Abstract: A process for preparing butadiene, comprising nonoxidatively dehydrogenating n-butane from a stream (a) in a first dehydrogenation zone to obtain stream (b) comprising 1-butene, 2-butene, and butadiene; oxidatively dehydrogenating the 1-butene and 2-butene of (b) in the presence of an oxygenous gas in a second dehydrogenation zone to obtain stream (c) comprising n-butane, butadiene, hydrogen, and steam; compressing and cooling (c) to obtain stream (d2) comprising n-butane, butadiene, hydrogen, and steam; extractively distilling (d2) into stream (e1) comprising butadiene and stream (e2) comprising n-butane, hydrogen, and steam; optionally compressing and cooling (e2) to obtain stream (f1) comprising n-butane and water and stream (f2) comprising n-butane and hydrogen and optionally recycling (f1) into the first dehydrogenation zone; separating (f2) into stream (g1) comprising n-butane and stream (g2) comprising hydrogen by contacting (f2) with a high boiling absorbent and subsequently desorbing the gas constituents dissolved in the absorbent.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a process for preparing butadiene. The process involves nonoxidatively catalytically dehydrogenating butane to obtain a product gas stream containing butane, 1-butene, 2-butene, butadiene, hydrogen and secondary constituents. The 1-butene and 2-butene of the product gas stream is then oxidatively dehydrogenated to give a second gas stream containing butane,2-butene, butadiene, hydrogen, steam and secondary constituents. Next, the butane,2-butene and butadiene are separated from the second gas stream and the butane and 2-butene are then separated from the butadiene product. The butane and 2-butene are then recycled into the nonoxidative catalytic dehydrogenating zone.

Abstract: Production of acrolein/acrylic acid (IA/B) comprises dehydrogenation of gas feeds containing propane to gas containing propane and propylene, (partial) separation, gas phase partial oxidation with oxygen to gas containing (IA/B) and excess oxygen and separation, residual gas containing propane, oxygen and optionally propylene is (partly) recycled to first zone. Production of acrolein (IA) and/or acrylic acid (IB) from propane comprises: (1) passing not less than 2 feed gas streams containing propane, including not less than 1 containing fresh propane, into a first reaction zone A, where the propane is subjected to heterogeneously catalyzed dehydrogenation, giving a product gas mixture A containing propane and propylene; (2) passing this mixture (A) into a first separation zone A, in which other components are (partly) separated, leaving product gas mixture A' containing propane and propylene; (3) using A' in a second reaction B for charging oxidation reactor(s), in which propylene in A' is subjected to heterogeneously catalyzed gas phase partial oxidation with molecular oxygen to convert it to a product gas mixture B containing acrolein and/or acrylic acid as intended product and excess oxygen; and (4) separating product gas mixture B in a second separation zone B into the intended product containing product gas mixture B and a residual gas (V) containing unreacted propane, oxygen and optionally unreacted propylene which is (partly) recycled to reaction zone A as one feed stream. The novelty is that residual gas (V) is recycled to reaction zone A at a feed point where not less than 5 mole-% of propane in the other feed stream(s) has already been dehydrogenated.
