Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for managing packet data units (PDUs) received by a Node B from a radio network controller (RNC) and stored in a buffer of the Node B while awaiting transmission to a user equipment (UE). A purge triggering event with respect to PDUs associated with the UE is detected at the RNC and the RNC transmits a purge message to the Node B requesting a purge of at least a portion of the PDUs associated with the UE from the Node B's buffer. The requested PDUs are then deleted from the Node B's buffer.

Abstract: Un método (400) para compartir memoria de una unidad de transmisión/recepción inalámbrica, (en adelante WTRU), que comprende: transmitir desde la WTRU a una red correspondiente de acceso por radio una señal que indica un tamaño de almacenamiento provisional relacionado con una suma efectiva de un almacenamiento provisional de un control de enlace por radio (en adelante RLC), y un almacenamiento provisional de reordenación de un control de acceso de medio (en adelante MAC), en el que el tamaño de la memoria física real en dicha WTRU podría ser menor que la suma efectiva; recibir (401) en la WTRU una unidad de datos de protocolo de estrato del MAC (en adelante MAC PDU), identificada por un número de secuencia de transmisión (en adelante TSN), cuya MAC PDU comprende una o más RLC PDU como subunidades cada una de las cuales tiene un número de secuencia (en adelante SN) de subidentificación única; guardar dicha MAC PDU recibida en un lugar de memoria de dicha memoria y tratar dicha MAC PDU en unprimer proceso basado en dicha identificación única; y tratar (445) dichas RLC PDU en un segundo proceso de acuerdo con los SNs respectivos; en el que dicha MAC PDU y sus RLC PDU se mantienen en el mismo lugar de memoria a lo largo de todo el primero y segundo procesos.

Abstract: A method and system for the UE and RNC to reduce transmission latency and potentially prevent loss of PDUs upon a MAC-hs layer reset. The RNC generates a radio resource control (RRC) message with a MAC-hs reset indication. The MAC reset indication requires the UE to flush buffers for configured HARQ processes, disassemble MAC protocol data units (PDUs) in the reordering buffers, deliver MAC-d PDUs to a MAC-d layer, and configure the MAC-hs to receive new data.

Abstract: The present invention refers to efficient recovery of high speed downlink packet data (HSDPA) following switching. The invention is a method and system for the UE to perform a series of actions in order to reduce the latency and potentially to prevent loss of PDU transmission during the serving HS-DSCH cell change procedure. A new criterion is introduced for the UE generating status report of the PDU. UE generates status report of the PDU as soon as possible following notification of the HS-DSCH cell change indicated by the RRC procedure to more efficiently recover source NODE B buffered data. PDU status may be signaled for each AM RLC associated with the HS-DSCH transport channel. During Inter Node B serving HS-DSCH cell change the SRNC may wait for PDU status report before initiating transmission of new data in target cell.

Abstract: A method for receiving a segmented communication begins by periodically transmitting the segmented communication. The segmented communication is received and each segment of the segmented communication is examined to determine if the segment is valid. If the segment is valid, then the segment is stored. If the segment is invalid, then the invalid segment is identified. The segmented communication is retransmitted and received. Only the identified invalid segments of the retransmitted communication are examined to determine if the previously invalid segments are now valid.
