Abstract:
A method and apparatus for processing data blocks during soft handover. The apparatus may be a wireless communication system including at least two enhanced uplink soft handover (EU-SHO) Node-B's and a radio network controller (RNC) as shown in figure 1. Each Node-B decodes a received data block and forwards the decoded data block to the RNC. If the RNC receives at least one copy of a successfully decoded data block, the RNC uses a re-ordering function entity to process the copy of the successfully decoded data block to support in-sequence delivery to higher protocol layers. If the RNC receives more than one copy of a successfully decoded data block, the RNC discards the extra successfully decoded data block copies. The RNC is either a serving-RNC (S-RNC) or a controlling-RNC (C-RNC). Each Node-B includes a medium access control (MAC) entity that handles enhanced uplink dedicated channel (EU-DCH) functionalities.
Abstract:
A received channel power indicator (RCPI) value is used as a measure of the received RF power in the selected channel, measured at the antenna connector. This parameter is a measure by the PHY sublayer of the received RF power in the channel measured over the PLCP preamble and over the entire received frame. RCPI is a monotonically increasing, logarithmic function of the received power level defined in dBm.
Abstract:
A method for improving the reliability of a channel quality indicator (CQI) (102, 106 Fig. 3) message in a wireless communications network begins with receipt of the CQI message. The CQI message is then decoded, and a decision metric value for each symbol in the CQI message is computed. A largest decision metric value and a second largest decision metric value for the CQI message are determined. The reliability of the CQI message can be determined by comparing the two largest decision metric values. This method may be applicable to high-speed downlink packet access in time division duplex, frequency division duplex, or other modes of transmission.
Abstract:
In a wireless digital communication system which may employ CDMA technology, a method (50) and system for obtaining channel quality (CQ) measurements for downlink resource allocation wherein a User Equipment (UE) (12) continuously measures RSCP (step) based on a communication on a reference channel provided by the network. The UE (12) measures timeslot ISCP (step 56) either continuously, by configuration or by rotation and reports downlink CQ (step 58). The UE (12) may report the RSCP once and the ISCP per timeslot, or may report some function of the RSCP/ISCP ratio such as modulation parameters or combined coding of all timeslots.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for forwarding non-consecutive data blocks in enhanced uplink (EU) transmissions. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and one or more Node-Bs include one or more automatic repeat request (ARQ)/hybrid-ARQ (H-ARQ) processes for supporting an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH). Data blocks transmitted by the WTRU are re-ordered in a re-ordering entity located in the Node-B(s) or a radio network controller (RNC). Once a missing data block is identified, a data forwarding timer in the Node-B(s) or RNC is initiated and subsequent WTRU transmissions are monitored to determine whether the missing data block has been discarded by the WTRU. Upon recognition of the discard of the missing data block, the non-consecutive data blocks are forwarded to higher layers.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a method and system for transferring wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)-specific information to support enhanced uplink (EU) operation in a wireless communication system. A radio network controller (RNC) obtains WTRU-specific information, and transfers the WTRU-specific information to the Node-Bs. Each Node-B is configured to schedule uplink transmissions from a WTRU and utilizes the WTRU-specific information in operation of EU transmissions.
Abstract:
A wireless communication method and system for controlling an enhanced uplink (EU) radio access bearer (RAB). The wireless communication system includes at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), at least one Node-B and a radio network controller (RNC). The RNC configures an EU RAB to operate on an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH). At least one of the WTRU and the Node-B report EU traffic statistics and EU performance statistics to the RNC. The RNC then adjusts the configuration of the EU RAB in accordance with the received EU traffic statistics, the EU performance statistics, and information collected by the RNC itself.
Abstract:
A system, components and methods provide controlled transmitter power in a wireless communication system in which both dedicated and shared channels are utilized. A network unit preferably has a receiver (16) for receiving UL user data from WTRUs on UL DCHs and at least one UL SCH and a processor (36) for computing target metrics for UL DCHs based on the reception of signals transmitted by a WTRU on an UL DCH associated with an UL SCH usable by the WTRU. A shared channel target metric generator is provided that is configured to output a respective UL SCH target metric derived from each computed UL DCH target metric.
Abstract:
Sub-channels are defined for a physical random access channel of a wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access. The sub-channels carry information between system users and a system network. A series of radio frames have a sequence of timeslots. For a particular timeslot number of the sequence, each sub-channel of the particular timeslot number is uniquely defined by one radio frame of the series.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system (100) including a wireless transmit/receive unit, WTRU (102) and at least one node-B (104),at least one downlink channel, DL (110) is selectively established between the WTRU (102) and the node-B (104) by means of uplink signaling channel, UL (108). WTRU (102) monitors and consolidates DL signaling channels (110) in accordance with one established standard procedure.
