    Abstract: A frequency control apparatus for a burst-mode radio communications system (TDMA) employing a frequency correction signal transmitted as a burst to enable correction of frequency differences between the frequency of the radio carrier of a subsequent communication burst and the frequency of reception by a radio receiver, the frequency control apparatus including a variable frequency oscillator (115), for receiving a frequency correction signal burst and a digital signal processor (111) for processing a communication burst having a frequency difference between said variable frequency oscillator and the radio carrier frequency of said communication burst and for generating a singular control signal value and for applying said singular control signal value to said variable frequency oscillator (115), via an A/D converter, to correct said frequency difference.

    Abstract: CM00282G A user-interactive control system for an electronic device is disclosed which synthesizes speech from speech recogniton templates to generate voice reply feedback to the user indicative of which template word was recognized. The acoustic features of the user-spoken speech are extracted by the acoustic processor (110) and applied to the training processor (170) to generate word recogniton templates stored in the template memory (160). Recognition processor (120) compares the user-spoken features to the recognition templates to provide voice command data for the device controller (130) which controls the operating parameters of the electronic device (150). The device controller also produces device status data for the synthesis processor (140) which synthesizes a speech reply signal from the word recognition templates. In the preferred embodiment, a hands-free user-interactive control system for a mobile radiotelephone is provided utilizing speech synthesis from speech recognition templates.

    Abstract: A signal weighting system for associating a confidence level with portions of a communication signal transmitted upon a multipath channel and received by a receiver. A signal received by the receiver is equalized by an equalizer circuit, such as a maximum likelihood sequence estimator, and the equalized signal generated thereby is supplied to an adaptive filter which is synthesizes portions of the multipath channel. The signal received by the receiver is altered responsive to values of a filtered, equalized signal generated by the adaptive filter.
