Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that an uplink transmission to a base station is to occur in accordance with an uplink timing advance value representing an amount of time that the uplink transmission takes from transmission at the UE to reception at the base station. The UE may perform an autonomous open-loop adjustment to the uplink timing advance value. The UE may transmit the uplink transmission to the base station in accordance with the adjusted uplink timing advance value. The base station may transmit an indication of a set of uplink timing advance values for a UE to use for uplink transmissions, each of the set of uplink timing advance values representing an amount of time that an uplink transmission is expected to take from transmission at the UE to reception at the base station.

Abstract: High frequency wireless communication networks rely on directional transmit and receive beams to achieve large gains and overcome large pathlosses associated with high frequency signals. With highly directional signals, link failure may occur. Network nodes associated with the link failure, may need to identify new beam pairs and establish a new link as quickly as possible. In several aspects, beam sweep procedures are expedited, allowing for rapid link reestablishment. Disclosed techniques allow for rapid link reestablishment with and without beam correspondence.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for inter-cell interference randomization between two or more cells. For example, a network entity may determine a cell identifier associated with the network entity and perform at least one of an interleaving, rate-matching, or resource element mapping on at least one codeword based on the cell identifier. The network entity may further communicate with a user equipment (UE) in accordance with performing at least one of the interleaving, rate-matching, or resource element mapping on the at least one codeword. In another example, a UE may receive a message from a network entity on a communication channel and identify a cell identifier associated with the network entity. The UE may further perform at least one of a de-interleaving, de-rate-matching, or resource element de-mapping on the message based on the cell identifier.

In some aspects, a user equipment may receive a communication that includes system information, wherein the system information includes information associated with identifying a set of resources that carry synchronization communications, wherein the set of resources is included in a set of potential resources on which synchronization communications can be carried; and perform, based at least in part on a rate matching rule, de-rate matching associated with receiving the system information, wherein the rate matching rule is a rule associated with performing de-rate matching with respect to the set of potential resources. Abstract: Beam specific power ramping counters may be used to adjust uplink transmit power. For example, a user equipment (UE) may use counters for beam specific power control of Random Access Channel (RACH) Message1 transmissions. A UE may transmit a RACH message1 on a beam specific resource and increment a counter corresponding to a gNB downlink beam. Power adjustments may be made on subsequent re-transmissions of the RACH message1 according to a power control policy. The power control policy may call for applying a power ramping function based on the value(s) of one or more of the counters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may identify that data is available to be transmitted to a user equipment (UE) that is operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. The base station may configure a plurality of UE–specific reference signals for transmission to the UE, each UE-specific reference signal indicating a UE identifier and an availability of data for the UE. The UE may receive the UE-specific reference signal, and identify that data is available for the UE from the base station. The UE may then transmit a beam recovery signal to the base station that includes an identifier for the transmit beam used by the UE to transmit the beam recovery signal. The base station may transmit, using a beam sweeping configuration, the plurality of UE-specific reference signals.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for delivering system information (SI) in a wireless communications system are described. Approaches described herein include determining different sets of SI corresponding to different sets of devices that might use the SI, and using directional transmissions to transmit the different sets of SI in different directions, so as to only transmit in a given direction SI that may be useful for devices in that direction. Also described herein are approaches for dividing a set of SI into different portions, and transmitting one portion via one or more reference signals and another portion less frequently via a scheduled data channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless systems, a user equipment (UE) may access a network or cell using a random access (RACH) procedure. A base station may allocate dedicated RACH resources and common RACH resources for the UE to transmit a RACH preamble message on, and may convey a configuration for the UE. In some cases, the UE may perform multiple transmissions of the RACH preamble message in the dedicated RACH resources, and based on the configuration may determine whether to perform a single or multiple transmissions of the RACH preamble message in the common RACH resources. The UE may transmit the messages using the same or different uplink transmit beams, and the base station may receive the messages using the same or different uplink reception beams. These multiple transmissions may reduce latency and improve reliability of the RACH procedure.

A first wireless node may establish a wireless connection between the first wireless node and a second wireless node in a wireless backhaul communications network. The first wireless node may identify, at the first wireless node, a need for additional resources for wireless communications with a third wireless node. The first wireless node may transmit a request message to the second wireless node indicating that resources are requested at the first wireless node. The first wireless node may receive an indication of one or more available resources from the second wireless node. The first wireless node may select one or more of the available resources for wireless communications with the third wireless node.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Signaling of a radio frequency (RF) band associated with a synchronization signal (SS) block detected by a user equipment (UE) may be transmitted to a base station. For example, a base station may transmit a set of SS blocks to multiple UEs, where the SS blocks are frequency division multiplexed such that each SS block is transmitted in a respective RF band. A UE may receive one or more of the transmitted SS blocks and determine a preferred SS block from the received SS blocks. The UE may in turn transmit an message to the base station that indicates the RF band of the preferred SS block. In some cases, the base station may optionally transmit a request to the UE to transmit the indication of the RF band.
