Abstract:
A lubricant-fuel mixture containing an amine salt and/or amide of a thiobenzoic acid derivative is effective in reducing the smoke emitted during operation of a two-cycle internal combustion engine. A preferred thiobenzoic acid derivative is 4-hydroxy-3,5-ditert-dibutyldithiobenzoate.
Abstract:
A fuel composition for internal combustion engines, and more particularly, a fuel composition for internal combustion engines containing less than about 0.5 gram of lead per gallon of fuel is described. The fuel provides acceptable valve seat protection in engines designed to operate on leaded fuels. A further aspect of the invention is to reduce deposit formation within the cylinders.
Abstract:
A fuel additive composition useful for incorporation in or admixture with fuels, particularly fuels containing vanadium and/or sodium as a contaminant such that upon combustion of the fuels containing or in the presence of said additive composition metal surfaces in contact with the resulting hot gaseous fuel combustion products are subject to less corrosion, contains one or more compounds providing the elements or elemental components magnesium, silicon, chromium and chlorine, these elements Mg, Si plus Cr, Cl being present in the additive composition in the weight ratio 1/>0.5/>1.0, respectively, the amount of Si to Cr being in the ratio 1:0.1-10.
Abstract:
By incorporating a fluorinated aliphatic compound, more particularly a fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon, fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbyl amine, or fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbyl amine salt into a gasoline composition the distribution of the air/fuel mixture in the intake manifold of a multicylinder gasoline engine will be improved when that engine is run with the resulting blend, thereby increasing operating efficiency. The fluorinated compound has a total of about 8 to 30 carbon atoms, the total number of fluorine atoms that are attached to either or both of the carbon atoms that are the terminal carbon atom of an aliphatic chain and the carbon atom immediately adjacent thereto being at least three. Representative fluorinated compounds include perfluoro kerosene and perfluoro tributyl amine.
