    Abstract: Multi-metal cyanide (MMC) compound(s) (I) and acid compound(s) (III) are used as catalysts in a process for the production of polyether-alcohols by the catalytic addition reaction of alkylene oxides with H-functional starter substances. An Independent claim are also included for: (1) catalysts of formula (II) for use in this process; (2) production of MMC compounds (II) by mixing solutions of metal salts and hexacyanometallate compounds in presence of Lewis acids or compounds which form Lewis acid centres when incorporated into the catalyst; (3) MMC compounds obtained by this method. M a(M (CN)b(A)c)d.fM gXn.eL.iS (II) M = Zn , Fe , Co , Ni , Mn , Co , Sn , Pb , Mo , Mo , Al , V , W , Cr , Cr , Cd , Hg , Pd , Pt , V , Mg , Ca , Ba and Cu ; M = Fe , Fe , Co , Co , Mn , Mn , V , V , Cr , Cr , Rh , Ru and Ir ; A, X = halide, hydroxide, sulfate, carbonate, cyanide, thiocyanate, isocyanate, cyanate, carboxylate, oxalate and nitrate; L = a water-miscible ligand selected from alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, polyethers, esters, ureas, amides, nitriles, lactones, lactams and sulfides; S = a Lewis acid or a compound which leads to the formation of Lewis acid centres when incorporated into the catalyst; a, b, c, d, g, n = numbers consistent with the electrical neutrality of (II); e, f, h = 0 or more (integer or fraction); i = more than 0.
