Abstract: A wireless communication system including at least one IEEE 802 multi-stack wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a plurality of technologically diversified access networks, such as IEEE 802.X networks and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks, that are concurrently deployed, Both the multi-stack WTRU and the technologically-diversified networks include a media independent handover (MIH) function.; The WTRU is configured to read MIH information transmitted from one of the IEEE 802.X networks, trigger 3GPP authentication and authorization procedures based on the MIH information, obtain a local Internee protocol (IP) address, establish a tunnel to a packet data gateway (PDG) in a 3GPP core network, construct a care of address (CoA) and register the CoA with a home agent of the WTRU, whereby data destined for the WTRU is routed via the home agent through a new tunnel established between the home agent and a foreign agent based on the CoA.

Abstract: Un sistema de comunicacion inalambrica incluyendo al menos una unidad de recepcion/transmision inalambrica de multiples bloques (WTRU) IEEE 802 y una pluralidad de redes de acceso tecnologicamente diversificados, tales como redes IEEE 802.X y redes de Proyecto de Asociacion de Tercera Generacion (3GPP), que se despliegan concurrentemente. Tanto las redes de multiples bloques WTRU como las tecnologicamente diversificados incluyen una funcion de transferencia de control independiente de medios (MIH). La WTRU se configura para leer la informacion MIH transmitida de una de las redes IEEE 802.K, accionar los procedimientos de autorizacion y autentificacion 3GPP basados en la informacion MIH, obtener una direccion de protocolo de Internet local (IP), establecer un tunel a un portal de paquete de datos (PDG) en una red de nucleo 3GPP, construir un cuidado de direccion (CoA) y registrar el CoA con un agente local de la WTRU, mediante lo cual la informacion destinada para la WTRU se rutea de un nuevo tunel establecido entre el agente local y un agente foraneo en base al CoA.

La trama de MAC incluye un campo que comprende una direccion IMP y una direccion EMP. Cuando el EMP, (u, opcionalmente, un punto de malla intermedio), recibe con éxito un paquete de datos, el EMP o el punto de malla intermedio envía una ACK al IMP o al punto de malla precedente.

Abstract: The method involves sending a measurement request message from a source node to an intermediate node. The measurement request message is forwarded to a next hop node, when the intermediate node receives the measurement request message. Measurements are conducted by the intermediate node, where the intermediate node sends a measurement report message back to the source node. The measurements are conducted by a final destination node, and a measurement report message is sent to the source node. Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for confirming the delivery of a data packet in a mesh network by sending an acknowledgement (ACK) to an ingress mesh point (IMP). A mesh network comprises a plurality of mesh points that are wirelessly linked together. A data packet sent by a station (STA) is received by an IMP. A MAC frame is generated for transmission of the data packet and the frame is forwarded to an egress mesh point (EMP) in order to provide a service by the mesh network. The MAC frame includes a field comprising an IMP address and an EMP address. When the EMP, (or optionally an intermediate mesh point), receives a data packet successfully, the EMP or the intermediate mesh point sends an ACK to the IMP or preceding mesh point.

Abstract: Se proveen un método, sistema y componentes de comunicación que incluye el uso de predicciones de tráfico determinadas por una unidad inalámbrica de transmisión/ recepción (WTRU). Preferentemente, la invención se implementa prediciendo tráfico en una red inalámbrica de área local (WLAN), entre una WTRU y un punto de acceso (AP) de WLAN que comienza determinado un nivel de tráfico en la WTRU. La información de predicción de tráfico es enviada por la WTRU al AP donde es utilizada junto con la generación de comandos enviados a WTRUs para controlar la forma de acceso por parte de las WTRUs a la WLAN a través del AP. Las WTRUs reciben instrucciones referidas a la admisión y están preferentemente configuradas para recibir e implementar instrucciones para ajustar la ventana de contención utilizada por la WTRU para transmitir datos.
