    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyester capable of giving, in good formability, formed article of high strength and high modulus with adequately high melting point, having both specific two sorts of carboxylate units. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolyester having (A) 50-98mol% of a carboxylate unit of formula I and (B) 50-2mol% of a second carboxylate unit of formula II (R is of formula III or IV). The manufacturing process is as follows: (1) 50-98mol%, on a recurring unit basis, of polyethylene-1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy) ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate with an intrinsic viscosity 0.4-1.20 and (2) 50-2mol% of an acyloxy aromatic carboxylic acid are made to react, at 250-300 deg.C, to prepare a prepolymer while eliminating the oxy acid generated. The resulting prepolymer is heated to 290-310 deg.C under a reduced pressure

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a copolyester excellent in melt flow property and capable of providing high strength and high modulus molding, by reacting an acyloxyaromatic carboxylic acid with a specified polyethylene terephthalate copolymer and poly condensing the product. CONSTITUTION:90-30mol% acyloxyaromatic carboxylic acid is reacted and polycondensed with 10-70mol% polyethylene terephthalated copolymer consisting of 40-80mol% polyethylene 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylate units and 60-20mol% polyethylene terephthalated units. As the acyloxyaromatic carboxylic acid, p- acetoxybenzoic acid is particularly preferred. When the amount of an acyloxyaromatic carboxylic acid used is below 30mol% or above 80mol%, the copolyester finally produced does not have sufficient strength or modulus, which is not desirable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To titled composition suitable for a molded article having improved surface gloss and mechanical properties by an injection molding machine using relatively low-temperature mold, obtained by adding glass fibers with a specific average fiber length and a specific nuclearing agent and lubricant to polyethylene terephthalate. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. polyethylene terephthalate is blended with 5-100 pst.wt. glass fibers with an average fiber length 0.15-0.4mm., 0.1-2pts.wt. neutral clay, oxide of metal belonging to II group of periodic table, silicate, stearate of metal belonging to I or II groups, benzoate, terephthalate or monomethylterephthalate as a nuclearing agent, and 0.01-5pts.wt. montanate of metal belonging to I-III groups of periodic table or a montanate partly neutralized by 2-10C aliphatic diol, 10-40C higher fatty acid amide, fatty polyol dibenzoate or polyalkylene glycol dibenzoate, etc. as lubricant.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Azomethinebisbenzoic acid is employed as a part of the dicarboxylic acid component, thus producing said polyester copolymer with high trasparency, toughness, high stiffness and heat resistance that is suitable used to inject moldings requiring high dimensional accuracy. CONSTITUTION:The polycondensation reaction between the aromatic dicaroxylic acid component containing 1-30, preferably 3-20mol% of azomethinebisbenzoic acid or its alkyl ester of the formula (R is H, 1-10C alkyl) and the aliphatic and/or alicyclic diol component is conducted to produce said polyester copolymer. EFFECT:Oriented films with high Young's modulus, heat resistance and dimensional stability are obtained by drawing the undrawn films made from said copolymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A modified polyester composition capable of forming a high modulus film and molded article with improved toughness and heat resistance, and high modules fibers with improved heat resistance, obtained by blending a thermoplastic polyester with a phenolic compound in a molten state. CONSTITUTION:100 Parts by wt of a thermoplastic polyester is blended with 0.5- 50 parts by wt. of a phenolic compound shown by the formula I or II (R is an aliphatic group; A is a phenolic residue having one on two aromatic rings in a molten state. Polethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and polycyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate may be preferably cited as the thermoplastic polyester. Arylene bis (dialkyl carbonate) and its oligomer may be cited as the phenolic compound.
