    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:An ampholytic compound shown by formula I (R1 is 1-22C alkyl; R2 and R3 are lower alkyl; n is 1-5; M is H ion or cation: X is anion; with the proviso that M and X may not be involved) or a salt type thereof. USE:A surfactant, bleaching activator or germicide. Usable for a cleaning agent as an ampholytic agent directly it is and excellent as a bleaching activator. PREPARATION:A tertiary amine is reacted with a halocarboxylic acid to give a compound shown by formula II, which is hydrolyzed in a mixed solvent of water/alcohol, etc., by using a catalyst such as KOH or NaOH to give a compound shown by formula III. Then the compound is reacted with thionyl chloride in a solvent such as dichloromethane, etc., to give an acid chloride shown by formula IV. Further this compound is reacted with p-hydroxybenzoic acid in a solvent of THF to give a compound shown by formula I.
