Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ink in which storage elastic modulus of ink measured after drying an ink containing a water-insoluble colorant, a storage elastic modulus-controlling agent, a dispersing agent and an aqueous medium is a specific value or below and intermittent printing characteristics after releasing for a definite time is improved. SOLUTION: This ink comprises preferably 1.5-5 wt.% water-insoluble or slightly water-soluble coloring material, preferably 3-30 wt.% storage elastic modulus-controlling agent (preferably having 2,000-20,000 weight average molecular weight), preferably 0.2-5 wt.% dispersing agent (preferably a polymer dispersing agent obtained by subjecting a sulfonated product obtained by sulfonating an aromatic compound containing a polynuclear aromatic compound to formalin condensation and then neutralizing the condensation product) and preferably 95.3-60 wt.% aqueous medium. Storage elastic modulus of the ink measured according to ASTM D-4440-93 after the ink is dried at 50 deg.C for 72 hr is dyne/cm in the range of 10 to 10 rad/sec frequency.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment ink which affords improved fixative ability of a pigment for a material to be recorded thereon, particularly for an OHP sheet and the like, by using a polymer dispersant and a specific emulsion in combination. SOLUTION: In an aqueous pigment ink containing a pigment, a polymer dispersant, an emulsion, a water-soluble solvent and water, as the emulsion, use is made of an acryic-urethane copolymer emulsion. The weight average molecular weight of the acrylic-urethane copolymer is preferably 20,000 to 300,000. An especially preferable acrylic-urethane copolymer is an acrylic- urethane graft copolymer. As a polymer dispersant, a (meth)acrylic acid derivative is particularly preferred. This aqueous pigment ink is suitable especially for use in ink-jet recording.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment ink suitable for use in ink-jet recording which is excellent in the dispersion stability of a pigment contained therein, by incorporating a specific alkylene glycol derivative in a mixture of a pigment, a polymer-dispersing agent, a water-soluble solvent and water. SOLUTION: This ink is an aqueous pigment ink comprising a pigment, (A) a polymer-dispersing agent, (B) 0.01 to 3wt.% of a compound represented by formula I, wherein AO is a 2-3C oxyalkylene, n is an number of 6 to 80 and XY is H or a sulfonic acid (sulfonate) group, a water-soluble solvent and water. (B) is preferably polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol or a polyethylene glycol disulfate, especially preferably a polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of 400 to 2,000. Though various dispersing agents may be usable as (A), it is especially preferred that (A) is a (meth)acrylic acid derivative which is a copolymer derived from a compound of formula II, wherein each of R1 and R2 is H or a lower alkyl, m is a number of 0 to 2, n is a number of 1 to 300, X is H or a lower alkyl and AO is as defined above, and a compound of formula III, wherein each of R3 , R4 and R5 is H, a lower alkyl or the like, each of M1 and M2 is H, an alkali metal or the like and m1 is a number of 0 to 2.

SOLUTION: A monomer represented by formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a lower alkyl; m1 is 0-2; AO is a 2 or 3C oxyalkylene; n is 1-300; and X is H or a lower alkyl) is copolymerized with a monomer represented by formula II [wherein R3 to R5 are each H, a lower alkyl or (CH2 )m2 CM2 ; M1 and M2 are each an alkali (alkaline earth) metal, ammonium or an amine; and m2 is 0-2] or its anhydride in a molar ratio of 0.1/100 to 100/100 to obtain a water-soluble resin comprising a copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 5,000-200,000. 0.3-10wt.% colorant is mixed with 0.1-10wt.% above water-soluble resin, 0.01-5wt.% anionic surfactant, 0.1-30wt.% water-soluble solvent and 70-98wt.% water to obtain an ink having foam stability after 5min (Ross-Miles tert) of 5-50mm, a surface tension (at 25 deg.C) of 30-60dyn/cm and a viscosity of 0.3-30cP.

The polymer dispersing agent is a copolymer of a (meth)acrylic acid derivative and its amount is 0.05-5wt.%. The surfactant is a mixture of 0.01-5wt.% of an anionic surfactant and 0.01-5wt.% of a nonionic surfactant at an (anionic/nonionic) ratio of 100:1 to 1:100. The weight ratio of the polymer dispersing agent to the anionic surfactant is 1:2 to 30:1.

CONSTITUTION: A tape-shaped material 5 to be subjected to vapor deposition is allowed to run in a vacuum vessel 1 from a sending roll 6 to a taking up roll 7 through a cooling can 8. A magnetic metal 10 housed in a crucible 3 made of MgO is melted and evaporated by irradiation with electron beams from an electron gun 22 and the evaporated metal is stuck to the material 5 on the cooling can 8 to form a magnetic layer. In accordance with the consumption of the metal 10 in the crucible 3, a magnetic material feeder 13 feeds a pellet-shaped magnetic material of 10mm diameter and 12-20mm length into the crucible 3. The feeder 13 is disposed by the crucible 3 so that the magnetic material is transferred in a horizontal direction through a trough and is charged from the edge of the crucible 3.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the manufacture with which the quality of a vapor-deposited thin film of the recording medium can be stabilized by reducing floating oxides in the surface layer of a molten magnetic metallic material to be vapor-deposited on a base film of the medium through blowing gaseous hydrogen onto the surface layer of the molten material. CONSTITUTION: A material 5 on which a vapor-deposited film is formed consists of a film of a resin such as PET, etc., having a 3 to 50μm thickness and is allowed to travel inside a vacuum vessel 1 evacuated to 10 to 10 Torr at an e.g. 5m/min traveling speed by using a traveling device 2 composed of a delivery roll 6, a wind-up roll 7 and a cooling can 8. A crucible 3 made of copper is provided with a melting tank made of MgO and a ferromagnetic metal 10 contg. Co, etc., is charged into this tank. An electron beam generator 4 is provided with an electron gun 11 and the ferromagnetic metal 10 is irradiated with the electron beam generated by the generator 4 to melt and evaporate the metal 10 and to continuously form a magnetic thin film on the material 5. At this time, in order to reduce floating oxides in the surface layer of the molten ferromagnetic metal 10 in the crucible 3, gaseous hydrogen heated to 400 to 2,000 deg.C is blown onto the surface layer of the metal 10 through a nozzle 13 while adjusting the amount of gaseous hydrogen to be blown by operating a shutter 14 from the outside of the vacuum vessel 1.
