Abstract: An improved electronic braking system for walkers that incorporates one or more electrically-operated brakes controlled by an electronic controller is disclosed. The controller is responsive to touch-sensitive switches for easy operation, and is adjustable and responsive to operator patterns of use to provide individualized control of the brake operation. The controller may also be responsive to environmental conditions such as the slope of the ground over which the walker is moving, to its rate of motion, or to the distance between the walker frame and the user, and may be adjusted to accommodate for the weight of the user or to set limits to the speed at which it can move.

Abstract: A system for managing exercise of an animal such as a human being so that the motion of the animal is induced with an appropriate scale and rhythm in accordance with the physiological conditions of the animal is provided. According to the exercise management system (1) of the present invention, during the process where the user's walking motion is induced by an operation of a walking motion induction device (20), a walking ratio (k) and a physiological variable such as consumed energy are measured. Then, the walking ratio (k) in the state where the physiological variable attains an appropriate value in consideration of activation of physical functions or reduction of body load of the user is set as a recommended walking ratio (k 0 ). This ensures that the recommended walking ratio (k 0 ) is set as appropriate in consideration of activation of the physical functions of the user or the like. As the walking motion is induced based on this recommended walking ratio (k 0 ) by the walking motion induction device (20), the induction scale and rhythm can be controlled appropriately so that the step width (q) and the walking rate (p) are appropriate in consideration of activation of the physical functions of the user or the like.

Abstract: Through the construction of a system capable of suitably assisting the motion of a connected body connected through joints, such as a leg of a walker, according to the various motional conditions of the connected body, a system is provided that is capable of imparting a suitable torque to the connected body according to the motional situation of the connected body at the time of various turns including the bending of the joints. The torque imparting system comprises a first measuring means (6), a second measuring means (7), a reference work volume determining means (8), and an external torque determining means (10). The first measuring means (6) measures the internal work volume (w1) of the around-joint leg (the connected body). The second measuring means (7) measures an external work volume (w2) around a joint imparted to the leg. The reference work volume determining means (8) determines a reference work volume (w0) on the basis of the internal work volume (w1) of the leg measured by the first measuring means (6). The external torque determining means (10) determines an external torque (T2) imparted to the leg in such a manner as to reduce the difference between the internal work volume (w1) of the leg measured by the first measuring means (6) and the reference work volume (w0) determined by the reference work volume determining means (8), on the basis of the external work volume (w2) measured by the second measuring means (7).

Abstract: The present invention is a physiological measurement and stimulation device that can autonomously adapt its actuation output behavior based on acquired data in the form of biofeedback sensory measurements. When operating the invention, the user can place the device on the body at the intended area of operation, at which time the physiological measurements sensors can initiate data collection. Either prior to or following this time, the actuator can be activated and controlled manually and/or autonomously per a command signal generated by the control system. The operation of the present invention can be continued until the invention detects that a predetermined threshold has been reached. When the invention is used as a sexual stimulation device, the predetermined threshold can be physiological data corresponding to various stages of arousal or orgasm.
