    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce color drift or distortion at an end of an image display region by providing a support frame that supports between a front surface plate and a rear surface plate and has, on its surface, a second conductive film electrically connected with a first conductive film included in the front surface plate. SOLUTION: A first conductive film 10 is formed from the periphery of an image forming member 6 on a front surface plate 7 to a joint portion with a support frame 9, the first conductive film 10 is electrically connected with the image forming member 6. A second conductive film 11 is formed on the support frame 9, from a joint portion with the front surface plate 7 to a joint portion with a rear surface plate 4. The first conductive film 10 is electrically connected with the second conductive film 11 at their joint portion. By considering structure parameters around the support frame 9 and, if necessary, setting sheet resistances of the first conductive film 10 and the second conductive film 11, voltages on the surface of the support frame 9 and around the image display member 6 on the front surface plate 7 are prevented from un- stabilizing during image display. Thus, the orbit of the electron beams emitted from an electron emitting element corresponding to the end of an image display region is not disturbed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize low power consumption and high quality by driving an electron emission part so that the electron emitted by the electron emission part reaches an anode electrode through an elastic scattering process wherein the mean elastic scatter frequency on the high-potential side surface of an electron emitting element is within a specific range. SOLUTION: A thin film containing carbon on the high-potential side surface 12 of at least the electron emitting element is arranged in grating stripes on a conductive thin film and the element is driven with an element voltage Vf and an anode voltage Va so that the electron emitted 'by the electron emission part reaches the anode electrode 13 through the elastic scatter process wherein the mean elastic scatter frequency (n) on the high-potential side surface 12 of the electron emitting element is 1 to 3. The electron emitting element is characterized by that the rate of the electron reaching the anode can be made larger and larger as the scatter frequency on the high-potential side surface 12 becomes lower and lower, but the anode voltage needs to be made high and the problem of discharging, etc., is possibly generated. For the purpose, driving conditions of a mean elastic scatter frequency of >=1 are preferable.

The mask and the adherent layer are removed to form the nonevaporative getter 12 within an image display area.
