    Abstract: A method and apparatus for sending a channel quality indication (CQI) via a shared channel while a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is in a Cell _FACH state without having a dedicated channel allocated for the WTRU are di sclosed. A WTRU performs a measurement of at least one parameter and generat es a CQI based on the measurement. The WTRU then transmits the CQI via a ran dom access channel (RACH). The CQI may be transmitted using an RACH preamble . A plurality of signature sequences may be divided into a plurality of grou ps. The WTRU may select one group based on the CQI and randomly select a sig nature sequence among signature sequences in the selected group for transmit ting the RACH preamble. The CQI may be appended to the RACH preamble. The CQ I may be transmitted via a control part or a data part of the RACH message.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for No-TX mode for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and Node B that suspends the transmission of power control updates and associated signaling over dedicated uplink and downlink channels. Triggers and signals between the WTRU and Node B activate and disable No-TX mode. A radio link is re-established to resume data transmission when No-TX mode is disabled, and data may also be transmitted during defined transmission opportunities while in No-TX mode.

    Abstract: A method implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for transmitting a channel quality indication (CQI) report or other measurement report begins by receiving a trigger. A CQI report is transmitted to a handover target Node B until a stop condition is reached. The WTRU will stop transmitting CQI reports to the target Node B if the stop condition is reached. A WTRU configured to perform the method includes an antenna, a transmitter/receiver connected to the antenna, and a processor communicating with the transmitter/receiver, the processor configured to transmit the CQI report to the handover target Node B.

    Abstract: A variety of wireless communication methods and apparatus for supporting reconfiguration of radio link control (RLC) parameters are disclosed. A radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message is generated that indicates that an RLC unit in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) or a universal terrestrial radio access network (UTRAN) should be reconfigured from supporting flexible size RLC protocol data units (PDUs) to supporting fixed size RLC PDUs. If an information element (IE) “one sided RLC re-establishment” is present in the RRC reconfiguration message, only a receiving side subassembly in the RLC unit is re-established. Otherwise, both the receiving side subassembly and a transmitting side subassembly in the RLC unit are re-established. Flexible size RLC PDUs may be discarded and a message indicating the discarded flexible size RLC PDUs may be transmitted. The flexible size RLC PDUs may be modified such that they correspond to a set of pre-defined sizes.
