Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an optical fiber array permitting arrangement of an optical fiber at an optional position and exact positioning of the optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical fiber array is constituted by comprising: m (m: a natural number not including 0) optical fibers; an optical fiber alignment member on a surface of which at least m grooves are formed in parallel; and a cover. The ends of the optical fibers are arranged in the grooves of the optical fiber alignment member and placed between the optical fiber alignment member and the cover. When placed between the optical fiber alignment member and the cover, the optical fibers are supported at three points with the grooves and the cover by setting the line connecting one point of the outer periphery contacting the cover of the optical fibers to be straight. The forming angles of the grooves are set constant for all the grooves, the depths of the grooves are optionally set to be different, and the clad diameters of the optical fibers arranged in the grooves are set to be optional. Accordingly, the line connecting the fiber center of each of the m optical fibers arranged in the grooves is set to be optionally non-straight. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer in which unevenness of polarizing axes of metal particles is easily suppressed, a manufacturing method thereof, and an optical isolator capable of simplifying an alignment step and improving a contrast ratio by incorporating the polarizer thereto. SOLUTION: When a polarized glass base material containing slender metal particles, the metal particles showing inclinations of polarizing axes, is prepared, a plurality of polarizer chip base materials is cut from the polarized glass base material, and a number of polarizers is further cut from the polarizer chip base material, and a side surface that is a light-impermeable surface of each individual polarizer chip base material is cut along the inclination direction of polarization axes of the polarized glass base material. Furthermore, the polarizer is disposed on each of light incident and outgoing surfaces of a Faraday rotator, thereby the optical isolator is constituted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide shock resistance for preventing collision between a voice coil and a magnetic circuit section caused by an impact when dropped, or the like and the plastic deformation, or the like of a suspension, and to increase the amount of vibration in the occurrence of somesthetic vibration by increasing the weight of a magnetic circuit portion. SOLUTION: A housing end face is used as a stopper, thus preventing a magnetic circuit section from coming into contact with a voice coil attached to a diaphragm. Dimensions in the width direction of the magnetic circuit section are extended for increasing weight, thus increasing the amount of vibration when somesthetic vibration occurs.
