Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating correction signals for use in forming low distortion analog signals wherein a digital representation of a desired analog waveform is encoded (5) into a digital data signal which is outputted to memory (21). A digital correction signal is encoded (20), having an opposite phase and increased amplitude from the signal distortion which it is determined will occur when the digital data signal is repetitively read out of memory and decoded. This digital correction signal is outputted to memory (21). The digital data and correction signals are repetitively and synchronously read (26) out of memory into a decoder (28). The decoder converts both digital signals into analog signals (60), so that the analog correction signal may superpose on the distortion in the analog data signal, resulting in a low distortion analog signal.

Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (10) includes mating connectors (12,14) each having a relatively soft outer housing encapsulating a core formed of a hard material. Electrical conductors (22) are partially embedded in the core (16) which extends around the contact portion (40,42) of preselected conductors to from a rigid sheath around the respective contact. The housings have a bore (32) extending inwardly from a face surface (30) that, upon assembly with a mating connector (12,14), sealingly surrounds the rigid sheath of the mating connector. The electrical connectors provide improved open-face waterproof sealing of the connector assembly.

Abstract: A seismic air gun includes a body, a main chamber, two ports, several air passageways, a shuttle, a return device, and a firing device. The main chamber is within the body. The two ports are in the main chamber. The ports lie along a common axis. The air passageways connect a high pressure air source to the return device, the main chamber, and the firing device. The shuttle slides along the common axis between an open position, in which the main chamber is open, and a closed position, in which the main chamber is closed. The return device biases the shuttle toward the closed position. The firing device causes the shuttle to move from the closed position to the open position whereby pressurized air is released simultaneously from the two ports and in opposite directions.

Abstract: An improved bottom cable for a seismic marine data acquisition system 10. The bottom cable 30 includes a cable section 30b having a bus 48. The cable, along with the cable section and bus, are used to electrically connect a master control unit 40 to first and second modules 32b and 32c, respectively. The bus 48 includes first and second switches 48b and 48c, respectively, located near opposite ends of the bus. In this way, if a leak R1 occurs in the bus, the first and second switches can be opened, thereby electrically isolating the bus and stopping the leak.
