Abstract: PURPOSE: A pressure tank module for a carbon dioxide carrier ship and a control method thereof are provided to reduce unnecessary manufacturing costs and the amount of used raw materials caused by designing the thickness of a pressure tank thicker than needs. CONSTITUTION: A pressure tank module for a carbon dioxide carrier ship comprises a pressure tank(100), a safety valve(200), an exhaust valve(300), and a control part(400). The pressure tank is manufactured at a design pressure higher than a shipping pressure of when liquid carbon dioxide is shipped. The pressure tank is mounted on a ship and maintains a sealed state. The safety valve is installed in one side of the pressure tank. When the internal pressure of the pressure tank is drastically and abnormally risen to the design pressure, the safety valve is opened to discharge the boil-off gas of the liquid carbon dioxide received in the pressure tank so that the internal pressure of the pressure tank can be dropped. The exhaust valve is mounted in one side of the pressure tank. When the internal pressure of the pressure tank is risen, the exhaust valve is opened to discharge the boil-off gas of the liquid carbon dioxide received in the pressure tank so that the internal pressure of the pressure tank can be maintained within a constant range. The control part detects the internal pressure of the pressure tank and checks whether or not the internal pressure of the pressure tank is reached at a predetermined set pressure and the design pressure to operate the opening and closing of the exhaust valve.
