    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an ink containing an amphoteric polymer having both an anionic group and a cationic group, and capable of giving a water-resistant picture image having a high quality to plain paper in a high picture image concentration without bleeding. CONSTITUTION: This ink contains a coloring agent, a liquid medium for dissolving or dispersing the coloring agent, and an amphoteric polymer having both an anionic group (preferably a carboxyl group or a sulfonyl group) and a cationic group (preferably either of an amino group, an imino group, a pyrrolidone ring and an imidazole ring). The polymer is the copolymer of a monomer having an anionic group in the molecule (e.g. acrylic acid) with a monomer containing a cationic group in the molecule (e.g. 2-vinyl-pyrrolidone), and has an isoelectric point in a pH range of 3-10 and a weight-average mol.wt. of 1,000-1,000,000, concretely preferably allylamine-maleic acid copolymer, etc.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a liquid ejection recorder in which ink is absorbed quickly into an absorber contained in a tank part on a carriage at the time of supplementing ink and a brilliant ink supply operation is ensured. SOLUTION: A head cartridge comprising a recording head for ejecting ink and a tank section 9 for holding ink being supplied to the recording head is carried on a carriage reciprocating in the widthwise direction of a recording sheet. A negative pressure generating member 10 composed of fibrous material is contained in the tank section 9 wherein the surface of fibers composing the negative pressure generating member 10 has been rendered lyophilic. When the carriage moves to a specified position and ink in a large tank 6 is supplied through a supply tube 7 to the negative pressure generating member 10, ink is absorbed quickly into the negative pressure generating member 10 and the operation for supplying ink into the tank section 9 is completed in a short time.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pigment ink which can form a picture excellent in fastness such as water-resistance, light resistance, etc., and in letter properties, and has the higher jet efficiency when applied to recording of an ink jet by incorporating a self-dispersing carbon black, an aqueous medium and a silicon compound. SOLUTION: As a coloring material, a self-dispersing type carbon in which at least one hydrophilic group is bound on a surface of carbon black through other atomic group is used. Both anionic and cationic group are used as the hydrophilic one. The anionic hydrophilic group contains, for example, -COOM, -SO3M, -PO3HM (wherein M is H, an alkaline metal, ammonium or the like) or the like. The cationic hydrophilic group contains -SO2N+H3, -N+R3, a group of the formula (wherein R is a 1-12C alkyl, a phenyl or a naphthyl) or the like. The above other atomic group contains, for example, a 1-12C alkylene, a phenylene, a naphthylene or the like. As a silicon compound, a silicon surfactant is preferable, for example.
