CONSTITUTION:An adhesive comprising a polymer having repeating units of formula I (wherein X is formula II or III and R is a tetravalent group selected from among a 2C or higher aliphatic group, a cycloaliphatic group, a monocyclic aromatic group, a condensed polycyclic aromatic group and a noncondensed polycyclic aromatic group consisting of aromatic groups linked with each other directly or through a bridging member). Said polymer can be usually produced by reacting 1,4-bis[4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl]-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride in an organic solvent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for agricultural chemicals and drugs easily in high purity and in high yield, by subjecting inexpensive meta-dinitrobenzene to self-condensation reaction in the presence of a base and a catalytic amount of meta-nitrophenol in an aprotic polar solvent. CONSTITUTION:Meta-nitrobenzene is subjected to self-condensation reaction in the presence of a base (e.g., potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, NaOH, etc.) and a catalytic amount of meta-nitrophenol in an aprotic polar solvent (e.g., 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, hexamethylphosphoramide, etc.) to give 3,3'-dinitrodiphenyl ether. Since this method has high conversion ratio to the aimed substance and high selectivity, it is economical. This process has further easy purification, and is industrially preferable.

CONSTITUTION:(A) An aminobenzylamine (pref. m-aminobenzylamine) and (B) tetracarboxylic dianhydride of formula I (e.g., promellitic dianhydride) are made to react, for example, in an organic polar solvent (e.g. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) to obtain the objective polyamic acid having at least one sort of recurring unit of formula II (X is of formula III; Y is of formula IV), followed by heating said polyamic acid to effect dehydration to obtain the other objective polyimide.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a urethane prepolymer useful for a urethane coating material and other applications and improved in weatherability and in compatibility and reactivity with a polyol by reacting a specified diisocyanate with a polyol. SOLUTION: A solvent mixture comprising isoamyl acetate and o- dichlorobenzene is used to produce 2,5- and/or 2,6- diaminomethylbicyclo[2,2,1]heptane hydrochloride and form phosgene from 2,5- and/or 2,6-diaminomethylbicyclo[2,2,1]heptane and hydrochloric acid gas, the phosgene is then removed, and the hydrochloride is subjected to vacuum rectification to give 2,5- and/or 2,6-diisocyanatomethylbicyclo[2,2,1]heptane, which is reacted with a polyol comprising a triol, such as trimethylolpropane, so as to provide a ratio of NCO groups to OH groups of (3 to 8):1 in the presence of an organotin-base catalyst at 0-120 deg.C to give a urethane prepolymer having terminal active isocyanato groups.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crystallization accelerator which accelerates the crystallization of a crystalline polyimide by thermally or chemically imidating 4,4'-(4- aminophenoxy)biphenyl with phthalic anhydride. SOLUTION: A compound, 4,4'-(4-Aminophenoxy)biphenyl represented by formula I is thermally or chemically imidated with phthalic anhydride represented by formula II to obtain a bisimide represented by formula III. Although a crystallization accelerator comprising this bisimide is applicable to any crystalline polyimides, it is effective as a crystallization accelerator for especially a crystalline polyimide represented by formula IV. This accelerator can markedly accelerate the crystallization of a crystalline polyimide without detriment to its properties. When the accelerator is added to a crystalline polyimide and the obtained mixture is molten and injection-molded, the polyamide can crystallize in the mold during cooling.
