Abstract:
A cast, selectively reinforced disc brake caliper has a bridge section and an outer-leg section. Each of the bridge and outer-leg sections comprises an insert having a shape similar thereto and a volume ranging from about 20 to 80 % thereof. The caliper is produced by heating the insert to a temperture of at least 50 DEG C, placing the insert into the bridge and outer-leg sections of a caliper mold, and casting an Al-base alloy into the mold so as to overcast the insert and thereby form a strong bond between the bridge and outer-leg sections thereof.
Abstract:
Improvements in closed loop feedback circuit of the type having both digital circuitry and analog loop compensation circuitry comprising an analog arrangement for temporarily reducing the analog loop compensation circuitry gain, and a digital arrangement operable upon circuit initialization (reset or initial energization) to actuate the analog arrangement for a predetermined time interval to avoid overshoot and reduce the time required to achieve stable loop operation. The loop compensation circuitry typically includes at least one capacitor and the analog arrangement for temporarily reducing the gain may include a resistive shunt temporarily connected in parallel with the capacitor. In one preferred embodiment, there is a resistor connected in series with the resistive shunt by the controlled conduction path of a semiconductor device such as a field effect transistor having its conduction path and its internal resistive shunt connected in parallel with the capacitor.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an external lubricant composition for lead stabilized vinyl polymer. The external lubricant functions as both an external lubricant and a processing aid by speeding fusion and thus, obviates the need for a separate processing aid. The external lubricant comprises an effective amount for lubricating vinyl polymer of polyethylene having a Brookfield viscosity at a temperature of 150 DEG C of between about 1 000 and about 100,000 centipoises and an acid number as determined by standardized titration of KOH of between about 1 and about 40.
Abstract:
This invention is related to the preparation of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Specifically, it relates to the manufacture of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane, CF3CH2CF2H (HFC-245fa) by the steps comprising (1) the formation of CCl3CH2CCl3 by the reaction of CCl4 with vinylidene chloride; (2) the conversion of CCl3CH2CCl3 to CF3CH2CF2Cl by reaction with HF in the presence of a fluorination catalyst, selected from TiCl4, SnCl4 or mixtures thereof; and (3) reduction of CF3CH2CF2Cl to CF3CH2CF2H.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for preparing hydrofluorocarbons of the formulas CF3(CH2CF2)nF comprising reacting at least one reactant selected from CCl3(CH2CCl2)nCl, CCl3(CH2CF2)nCl or CCl2[(CH2CF2)Cl]2, where n=1 to 3, with hydrogen fluoride at a temperature of from about 25 to about 200 DEG C.
Abstract:
A D-ring or seat belt apparatus (200) for safety belts comprising: a cradle (300) adapted to be mounted to a cooperating structure; a member (201, 204) supported by the cradle and having a roller (260) and flexible shaft (270) for supporting a shoulder belt portion of a seat belt. The member (201, 204) is permitted to move or rotate side to side relative to the cradle, to move or rotate about a first axis of the cradle and to move or rotate about a second axis generally perpendicular to the first axis.

Azeotrope-like compositions comprising trifluoromethane and carbon dioxide or hexafluoroethane and carbon dioxide are stable and have utility as refrigerants for heating and cooling as well as fire extinguishing compositions.
Abstract:
A photopolymerizable composition for use in forming a photopolymer composition for use in forming the light transmissive regions of light transmissive devices, and such devices.
Abstract:
Air dryer (10) for a compressed air system includes a desiccant canister (18) and a tubular oil filter (94) received within a cavity within the canister circumscribed by a desiccant bed (28). A tubular oil filter is mounted on a removable module (82) so that the module and the oil filter may be removed from the air dryer without disturbing the desiccant canister. Accordingly, oil filter is replaced at more frequent intervals than is the desiccant. During purging, purge air is bypassed around the oil filter directly to the exhaust port through a check valve (98) permitting communication through a bypass passage only during purging.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a recombinant plasmid adapted for transformation of a host microorganism, the plasmid comprising a plasmid vector into which a polydeoxyribonucleotide segment that codes for ammonia monooxygenase and hydroxylamine oxidoreductase has been inserted, wherein the resulting transformant exhibits at least 50 % of the overall level of ammonia monooxygenase and hydroxylamine oxidoreductase activity of the donor. Also provided are an isolated polydeoxyribonucleotide segment that encodes ammonia monooxygenase and hydroxylamine oxidoreductase, and a transformant containing the ammonia monooxygenase and hydroxylamine oxidoreductase gene segments.
