Abstract:
A playback system more correctly determines whether a playback system supports, for example, an optional feature. A playback control method for use in a playback apparatus (101) of a playback system (100) including the playback apparatus (101) that plays back video and a display apparatus (103) that displays the video played back by the playback apparatus (101) is provided. The method includes a first determination step (S201) of determining whether the display apparatus (103) supports an optional feature for playback of the video by using a first technique and a second determination step (S202) of determining whether the display apparatus (103) supports the optional feature for playback of the video by using a second technique that differs from the first technique if it is indeterminate whether the display apparatus (103) supports the optional feature by using the first technique.
Abstract:
Recorded in a recording medium is a video stream, map information, and bitrate information of the video stream. The map information includes size information indicating data size of a section where a picture is recorded in the video stream, based on a predetermined stipulated data size. The stipulated data size differs in accordance with the bitrate information.

Provided is an authentication method in source device 100 that is communication-connected to sink device 200 in a form of High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) (registered trademark), the authentication method including: acquiring a random number (S131); transmitting the random number to sink device 200 by communication through HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) bus 310 (S132); receiving first signature information and capability information 22 from sink device 200 by the communication, the first signature information being information in which the random number is encrypted using first secret key 10 of sink device 200, capability information 22 being information about display capability of sink device 200 (S133); acquiring a result of a first determination whether first decrypted information is compatible with the transmitted random number, the first decrypted information being obtained by decrypting the received first signature information using first public key 21 paired with first secret key 10 (S134); and when the first decrypted information is compatible with the transmitted random number as the result of the first determination, determining that the received capability information is correct information to output video corresponding to the capability information to sink device 200 (S136).
Abstract:
Provided is a display method of displaying, on a display device, video of video data where luminance of video is defined by a first EOTF (Electro-Optical Transfer Function) indicating a correlation of HDR (High Dynamic Range) luminance and code values. The method includes: acquiring the video data; performing, regarding each of a plurality of pixels making up the video included in the acquired video data, first determining of determining whether or not luminance of that pixel exceeds a first predetermined luminance; performing, regarding each of the plurality of pixels, dual tone mapping where luminance of that pixel is reduced by a different format in a case of the luminance of the pixel being found to exceed the first predetermined luminance as a result of the first determining, and a case of the luminance of the pixel being found to be equal to or lower than the first predetermined luminance; and displaying the video on the display device using the results of the dual tone mapping.
Abstract:
A receiving method of receiving a first data unit in which data making up an encoded stream is stored and the first data unit stores a plurality of second data units. The receiving method includes: receiving the first data unit, first time information indicating a presentation time of the first data unit, second time information indicating, together with the first time information, a presentation time or a decoding time of each of the plurality of second data units, and identification information; calculating the presentation time or the decoding time of each of the plurality of second data units using the first time information and the second time information; and correcting the presentation time or the decoding time of each of the plurality of second data units based on the identification information.
Abstract:
A transmitting method of storing data configuring an application into a predetermined data unit and transmitting the stored data in the predetermined data unit, which includes: generating time specification information indicating an operation time of the application, based on reference time information received from an external source; and transmitting (i) the predetermined data unit and (ii) control information indicating the generated time specification information, wherein the control information includes: the generated time specification information and identification information indicating whether or not the time specification information is time information indicating a time that is before a leap second adjustment.
Abstract:
A transmission method in transfer of content using an IP (Internet Protocol) packet performed through broadcast includes a generation step of generating a transfer frame that stores a plurality of second transfer units that each store one or more first transfer units that each store the IP packet, and a transmission step of transmitting the generated frame. In the generation step, reference clock information that indicates time for reproduction of the content in data structure different from data structure of an MMT (MPEG Media Transport) packet is contained in an object IP packet stored in a first transfer unit positioned at a head within a second transfer unit positioned at a head within the frame, and the object IP packet does not undergo header compression.

Abstract:
A transmission method in transfer of content using an IP (Internet Protocol) packet performed through broadcast includes a generation step (S151) of generating a transfer frame that stores a plurality of second transfer units that each store one or more first transfer units that each store the IP packet, and a transmission step (S152) of transmitting the generated frame. In the generation step (S151), reference clock information that indicates time for reproduction of the content on a reception side is contained in the first transfer unit positioned at a head within the frame. This provides a transmission method capable of reducing processes for acquiring the reference clock information on a reception side.
