Abstract:
Remote absorption spectroscopy uses coded electromagnetic transmission (240) directed through a medium under investigation to one or more remote receivers (262). The coded transmission includes at least one wavelength (242) coincident with an absorption band of interest and one wavelength (244) in an off-line band and a predefined relationship between spectral components in and outside the absorption band is controlled. The relationship between spectral components may be evaluated at the receiver to determine whether deviation thereof from the controlled relationship at the transmitter exists at the receiver. The deviation of the received optical signal from the prescribed relationship is processed to indicate the absorption of the radiation in the absorption band.

The invention relates to a method and to a device for using partially non-stabilized broadband light sources to accurately measure partially broadband-absorbing substances using referencing measuring cells. In order to create a low-cost, high-resolution, and at the same time fast spectrographic device for measuring concentrations of substances in fluid or gaseous media that is also suitable for harsh environments, the light radiated by the broadband light sources (1) through light guiding optical systems is fed through the measuring section of the self-referencing measuring cell (20, 30, 40) or only partially through a measuring cell (10) to a measurement detector (photoreceptor 11) and partially through a reference path (optical waveguide 8) to a reference detector (photoreceptor 15), and a mode coupler (5, 9, 14) is associated with each optical waveguide (2, 4, 7, 8) in order to homogenize the radiation characteristic of the broadband light sources (1), which varies over time and space.

A new immunoassay system is provided for the detection of ligands or ligand binding partners in solution in a heterogeneous format. The invention relies upon the detection of back scattered light from an evanescent wave disturbed by the presence of a colloidal gold label brought to the interface by an immunological reaction. The evanescent wave existing at the interface in turn is the result of a totally internally reflected incident light wave. Placement of the detector at a back angle above the critical angle insures a superior signal-to-noise ratio. Apparatus and methods for scanning, detecting and manipulating light including a scattered total internal reflectance immunoassay system are provided.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'amélioration des capacités de détection d'un système d'imagerie multispectrale 10 intégrant un système d'imagerie bi-télécentrique comprenant successivement : - une première lentille 1, - une pupille 3 située dans le plan focal arrière de ladite première lentille 1, - une seconde lentille 4 dont la distance focale coïncide avec la position de ladite pupille, - une matrice de microlentilles 9, - une matrice de filtres spectraux associée à ladite matrice de microlentilles 9, - et un détecteur sensible au rayonnement à détecter et situé dans le plan focal arrière de ladite matrice de microlentilles 9. Ce procédé est remarquable en ce qu'il comprend une étape de calibration du système d'imagerie multispectrale dans laquelle est utilisée une cible de calibration placée au niveau de la susdite pupille 3, et une étape d'implémentation d'une gigue contrôlée d'au moins un des composants dudit système d'imagerie multispectrale 10, afin d'effectuer une détection synchronisée sur le signal détecté par le susdit détecteur, d'un rayonnement ayant traversé le système d'imagerie multispectrale 10. Applications : amélioration des capacités de détection d'un système d'imagerie multispectrale, notamment dans le domaine de l'infrarouge pour la détection et l'imagerie en temps réel de nuages de gaz.
