Abstract: A molding composition is described and comprises a mixture of interpenetrating polymers. A first phase comprises a crosslinked isobutene polymer, and a second phase encompasses a reinforcing polymer comprising (meth)acrylic and/or vinylaromatic units. The first phase is the reaction product of an isobutene polymer having an average of at least 1.4 functional groups in the molecule and of a crosslinking agent having an average of at least two functional groups in the molecule, the functionality of these being complementary to that of the functional groups of the isobutene polymer. The molding composition is particularly suitable for the roofing of buildings, or as impact-modified polystyrene or polymethyl methacrylate.

In an explosive composition comprising an emulsifier in a water-in-oil emulsion, the emulsifier is a Mannich adduct (I) of (a) a hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic compound of formula (II), (b) formaldehyde or its oligomer or polymer and (c) a nitrogen (N) compound selected from an amine with primary or secondary amine function(s) and ammonia. (R1>)nAr(OH)x (II) R1>a hydrocarbyl group, selected from linear or branched 6-400 carbon (C) alkyl, 6-400C alkenyl, 6-400C alkenyl-aryl or 6-400C alkyl-aryl; Ar : a mono- or polycyclic, optionally substituted aromatic ring; n : 1, 2 or 3; x : 1-5. An independent claim is also included for the production of the explosive composition by dissolving (I) in an organic liquid forming the oil phase, warming this solution if necessary and emulsifying an optionally warmed aqueous phase containing an inorganic oxidant.

Abstract: A method for producing Mannich adducts that contain polyisobutenylphenol by: a) alkylating a phenol with highly-reactive polyisobutylene having more than 70 mol% of vinylidene double bonds and a number average molecular weight between 300 to 3000 at a temperature lower than approximately 50 °C and in the presence of an alkylation catalyst; b) reacting the reaction product from a) with formaldehyde, an oligomer or with a polymer of the formaldehyde and with at least one amine, which has at least one secondary amino function and does not have any primary amino function; or c) reacting the reaction product from a) with at least one adduct consisting of at least one amine, which has at least one secondary or primary amino function, and with formaldehyde, an oligomer of the formaldehyde, a polymer of the formaldehyde or with a formaldehyde equivalent is disclosed. These Mannich adducts that can be obtained by using this method are used as detergent additives in fuel compositions and lubricant compositions, and to additive concentrates, fuel compositions and lubricant compositions containing these Mannich adducts.

Abstract: A polymer composition containing:(a) at least one hydrophobic polymer, (b) at least one polyisobutene terminally modified with polar groups, obtainable by functionalization of reactive polyisobutene of number average molecular weight Mn = 150-50000 is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) fibers, films, and shaped bodies built up from the polymer composition; (2) a process for preparation of the polymer composition by contacting the hydrophobic polymer (component A) or the monomer for preparation of this polymer with at least one polyisobutene (component B) modified with terminal polar groups; (3) a colored polymer composition containing:(a) at least one hydrophobic polymer as component A, (b) at least one polyisobutene terminally modified with polar groups obtainable as above, as component B, and (c) at least one colorant; (4) a process for preparation of shaped bodies, films and fibers where at least one polyisobutene modified with terminal polar groups is brought into contact with the hydrophobic polymer during processing of the shaped bodies, films, or fibers; (5) a process for coloring of fibers, films and shaped bodies in which a liquor containing at least one colorant is contacted with the composition or the fibers, films and shaped bodies; and (6) fibers, films, and shaped bodies obtained from a colored polymer composition.
