Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mixture of a cycloalkylhydroperoxide, a cycloalkanol, and a cycloalkanone from a cycloalkane in a high yield. SOLUTION: At least one oxidized product selected from cycloalkylhydroperoxides, a cycloalkanol, and a cycloalkanone is obtained by oxidizing a cycloalkane with an oxygen in the presence of an imide compound having a cyclic imide structure represented by formula (I) wherein X is O or -OR (R is H or a protecting group of a hydroxyl)} as well as in the absence of a transition metal compound at a temperature of 120 deg.C and more. The reaction can be made under a condition with 80 wt.% and more of the total concentration of the cycloalkanes and the oxidation products.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a ketone by efficiently oxidizing a terpene olefin to produce a corresponding ketone through a catalytic reaction using oxygen as an oxidant. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing ketone is carried out by oxidizing a terpene olefin in the presence of an oxidation catalyst constituted with (A) a palladium compound and (B) a heteropolyacid or its salt, with a molecular oxygen to produce the corresponding ketone. Further, an ionic compound containing (C) a halide ion may coexist in the system. It is preferable that, in the manufacturing method, the heteropolyacid or the salt of the acid (B) contains at least one element selected from P, V, Mo and W as constituting element.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation-reduction process capable of transferring a hydrogen atom from a hydrogen donor to a hydrogen acceptor in high efficiency under mild conditions. SOLUTION: The oxidation-reduction process is carried out by reacting (A) a hydrogen donor with (B) a hydrogen acceptor in the presence of an iridium compound to transfer a hydrogen atom from the hydrogen donor (A) to the hydrogen acceptor (B). An example of the hydrogen donor (A) is a primary or secondary alcohol, and an example of the hydrogen acceptor (B) is an olefin. Further, it is possible that a primary or a secondary alcohol is made to react with an olefin in the presence of an iridium compound to produce the carbonyl compound corresponding to the primary or secondary alcohol, or a hydrogenated compound of the olefin.
