Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and system for sending and r educing uplink feedback signaling by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) related to transmission of multimedia broadcast multi cast service (MBMS) d ata over a high speed down link packet access (HSDPA) channel. A Node B may pre-allocate a time frequency region or a common channelization code for the feedback. A triggering criterion for reporting a channel quality indicator (CQI) is set and WTRUs send a CQI to a Node B only if the triggering criteri on is satisfied. The triggering criterion may be a current operating CQI val ue at the Node B, or based on erroneous transport block reception statistics , or a predetermined time period. A feedback reduction method related to ACK /NACK includes the WTRU sending an indication of an average number of transm issions needed to successfully decode the data instead of sending an ACK/NAC K for every transmission interval.

Abstract: A method for neighbor scanning in a wireless local area network having a station, a first access point, AP, to which the station is associated, and a second AP, comprising the steps of generating timing information regarding a beacon signal sent by the second AP, reporting the timing information from the first AP to the station and scheduling at the station a time, based on the timing information, to listen for the beacon signal transmitted by the second AP. Abstract: Un sistema de comunicacion inalambrica incluye una pluralidad de unidades trasmisoras/receptoras inalambricas (WTRU) y un puno de acceso (AP). La AP se comunica con la WTRU mediante una antena. En una modalidad, el AP configura la antena a una configuracion de haz amplio que cubre un area de servicio deseada y transmite un mensaje de control de Peticion Para Envio (RTS). Cuando el AP recibe un mensaje de control de Limpiar Para Envio (CTS) de una de las WTRU, el AP determina los ajustes optimos de antena para la comunicacion con una WTRU. El AP configura la antena a una configuracion de haz estrecho y transmite al menos un paquete de datos a una WTRU. Cuando el AP recibe un mensaje de reconocimiento que indica que el paquete de datos se recibio exitosamente por la WTRU, el AP configura la antena a la configuracion de haz ancho. En otra modalidad, el AP se configura para transmitir y recibir fragmentos de paquete de datos de la WTRU y configura por consiguiente la antena.
