Abstract:
Rotary locks used on transit vehicle doors when opened and closed by a rotating helical door drive member. In a preferred embodiment, a first lock utilizes a negative thread portion of the helical drive. A second lock utilizes a rotating lock pawl and stop. The drive and lock can be used to operate door systems with and without separate door hangers. Compensation for camber variations in car structure is provided through the use of spherical mounts or drive member journals.
Abstract:
An apparatus adaptable to a trash bin, the bin being of the type having four side walls, and a swinging door panel on the upper portion of one of the side walls, for allowing the panel to be manually opened and a tray to be slid within the opening and food or trash allowed to be dumped from the tray into a trash can contained within the bin. The apparatus would comprise a foot pedal hingedly secured to the interior wall of the bin, and an opening above the foot pedal so that one may have access to the foot pedal with one's foot, a line running from the front face of the foot pedal upward and interconnecting the interior face of the door panel; and a pulley secured to the side wall of the bin, so that the line runs over the pulley, in such a fashion when one places force downward on the foot pedal, the line is retracted so that the door panel is swung into the opening within the container, thus giving access to the container through the opening formed by the opened panel. Upon removal of one's foot from the pedal, the door would simply be returned back to the closed position for sealing off the opening in the container.
Abstract:
A cabinet structure having an improved user-mountable foot pedal-operated door opener. The pivot rod of the door opener may be mounted by the user to brackets previously mounted to the cabinet by the manufacturer, permitting completed installation of the door opener by the user without the need for tools. In one form, the door opener acts against a slide plate carried on the lower edge portion of the door of the cabinet, and in another form, a roller is provided on the pivot rod for directly engaging the door lower edge portion. The pivot rod may be readily removed from the cabinet construction, when desired, such as during subsequent shipment of the cabinet structure.
Abstract:
A door operator for an overhead garage door having a reversible electric motor and a gear train driving the door. Limit stops are provided, one for the "up" limit and another for the "down" limit. Each of the limit stops is independently zero setable to cut off current to the motor at a pre-selected position.
Abstract:
A device for opening a back door of an automotive vehicle which can be operated by an operator's foot. A foot pedal is located at a rear and lower portion of the automotive vehicle in an accessible position. The foot pedal is connected by actuating means to lifting means for lifting the back door in such a manner that the back door can rotate around the upper edge thereof to be opened. A door-lock release device is actuated in response to operation of the lifting means to release the lock of a locking device. The actuating means includes means for disconnecting the linkage between the lifting means and the foot pedal so that operation of the foot pedal cannot be transmitted to the actuating means.
Abstract:
A sliding door is provided which is suitable for use as a heavy door for vaults in banks. The door is provided at its bottom with driving wheels adapted to be rotated manually by means of a handle, through a suitable power transmitting means, thereby to move the door along a rail. The power transmitting means may incorporate a suitable reduction means so that the door may be moved with a reduced force and, accordingly, at a lower speed. Means are provided for locking the door in the closed state.
Abstract:
An electric window regulator for motor vehicles is provided with a handle which can be coupled to the window winding drum to effect manual operation of the window in an emergency, the handle having a portion which screws into the hub of the drum to displace a spring loaded splined coupling member and disengage the winding drum from the electric motor reduction gear drive, thereby permitting manual operation of the drum by the handle.
Abstract:
A closure consisting of a bifold door which is weight balanced in any given position and which, when fully opened, occupies the minimum of space. The door consists of two unequal rectangular bifold sections, the smaller of said sections being the upper section and is pivotally attached along one longitudinal side to the frame or beam at the top of the opening to be closed and the other longitudinal side is pivotally attached in an opposite pivotal direction to the lower, larger rectangular section. The lower section is connected by a system of cables and pulleys to a counterweight which applies an upward force to the bifold door which is equal to the weight or downward force of the bifold door when in a closed, or a partial or fully opened position. When fully opened, the upper rectangular section has pivoted to a position at right angles from its closed position and the lower rectangular section has pivoted 180.degree. in relation to the upper section so as to be folded directly under said upper section. The door may be opened or closed electrically or manually, and when closed, locked in a stationary position.
Abstract:
Door operator for a transit vehicle including a primary linkage device for driving the door between open and closed positions and for monitoring door position and a secondary linkage device for monitoring door position. Additionally, a device is provided for locking the door in closed position in association with the secondary linkage device.
