An individually customized multimedia data search service method and an apparatus thereof are provided to search multimedia data easily in settop box environment to reduce multimedia data search time, thereby maximizing user's satisfaction. A server(200) extracts characteristic information and metadata of an entire screen and a partial area with regard to each scene of multimedia a user wants to store, and generates and stores image index information by using the extracted characteristic information and metadata. When image search is requested with regard to any characteristic information from a settop box(100) which is at a remote place, the server searches any characteristic information and similar characteristic information from the image index information, and provides an image and metadata corresponding to each characteristic information.

A bidirectional IPTV broadcast service method and a system thereof are provided to enable a guest to attend a broadcast remotely without inviting the guest to a studio, thereby supplying various type broadcast services. In a bidirectional IPTV broadcasting system, a broadcast controller(100) controls a bidirectional IPTV broadcast. A client(200) performs the existing IPTV STB function and simultaneously provides bidirectional IPTV broadcast services to a viewer. A platform server(400) transmits an actual broadcast stream to the viewer at a reserved time. A media server(300) controls the client participating in the bidirectional IPTV broadcast service. The media server performs a media server headend function which mixes media streams from the broadcast controller and the client.

An IPTV digital-broadcast system for reducing channel change time and a method thereof are provided to obtain PID information of a changed channel and decode the broadcast stream easily by receiving and storing the EPG(Electronic Program Guide) provided by an EPG server, channel multicast group information, and channel PID information by using a client terminal. An IPTV digital-broadcast system comprises an IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) providing server(210), an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) server(220), a PID(Packet ID) providing server(230), at least one router(240), and at least one client terminal(250). The router has an IP network. The IPTV providing server manufactures broadcast data of at least one broadcast data into a broadcast stream having an MPEG-TS type. The EPG server acquires the EPG and channel multicast group information and provides the information and the channel PID information together to the client terminal. The PID providing server acquires the channel PID information and provides the information to the EPG server. The router joins the client terminal in the multicast group, copies the broadcast stream of the multicast group, and transmits the stream to the client terminal. The client terminal receives and stores the EPG provided by the EPG server, the channel multicast group information, and the channel PID information.

An apparatus and a method for supporting/controlling functions associated with QoS(Quality of Service) in an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) system are provided to combine and use a classified class, an output port, and an LLID for the output port using information included into a service packet sufficiently, thereby dealing with various types of QoS by service. A packet classifying unit(200) classifies the class of a packet on the basis of the header information of a service packet. A reading unit(210) searches a port, to which the packet is outputted, and an LLID(Logical Link Identifier) corresponding to the port. A queue operating unit(220) sets a queue waiting in the port and determines the priority of the queue on the basis of the classified class and the output port, and the LLID. A bandwidth control unit(230) allocates a service bandwidth on the basis of at least one of the classified class, the output port, the LLID, or the output queue.

A personal multimedia studio platform device for authoring 3D contents and a method therefor are provided to allow a plurality of users to share a multimedia object by providing a function capable of authoring the 3D object by using a universal camera, providing strong interaction with the user through AR(Augmented Reality) embodiment and an automatic user motion extraction function, and allowing the user to receive a contents object from a remote server. A user object extracting unit(241) recognizes and extracts a user object from a 2D image through background learning for the inputted 2D image. An AR embodying unit(243) recognizes AR indication from the extracted user object, overlaps an AR virtual object received from a contents provider server on the AR indication, and generates an AR-embodied user object. An image synthesizing unit(245) renders a light source and a 3D object model estimated on the basis of the AR-embodied user object, a 2.5D background model received from the contents provider server, and an image used for generating the 2.5D background mode along time according to frames. An object adjusting unit(247) adjusts the AR-embodied user object, the 2.5D background model, the 3D object model, and a position of the light source in the image synthesizing unit according to a time.

A method of detecting an effective frame length for preventing a fragment loss in an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) MAC(Media Access Control) is provided to manage plural reference values for plural Ethernet frame buffers by using a minimum sized frame length memory of an ONU(Optical Network Unit). A reference value for a size of data to be transmitted is set in a frame buffer. A remaining frame length, which corresponds to a difference between a sum of input Ethernet frame lengths and a smallest reference value of the reference values greater than the sum of the lengths, is obtained. When the length of a new Ethernet frame is smaller than the remaining frame length, a sum of the previous Ethernet frame lengths is detected as an effective frame length. Otherwise, the sum of the previous Ethernet frame lengths and the sum of the new Ethernet frame lengths are detected as the effective frame lengths.

A method for processing a frame to provide multicast and virtual LAN(Local Area network) services efficiently in an Ethernet passive optical network is provided to set the bit number of GID and LLID according to a network configuration environment while defining the GID and the LLID so as to constitute a group such as an LAN network without using a VLAN(Virtual LAN), thereby providing the multicast and the VLAN more efficiently. An OLT(Optical Line Terminal) system(120) and each of plural ONU(Optical Network Unit)s(170a~170n) set the bit number of LLID(Logical Link Identification) and GID(Group Identification) according to the number of ONU systems and the number of groups, and set the size of a GID field and an LLID field according to the set bit number. The OLT system allocates the LLID to each of the ONU systems constituting an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) system, divides the ONU systems into plural groups by service, and allocates the GID to each group. Each of the ONU systems receives each GID and LLID, and the GID and LLID of other ONU systems to store and manage the received IDs in a table. An ONU system(170a) sets the GID and LLID having the determined bit number to the preamble/SFD(Start Of Frame) field of a frame and transmits the frame. The OLT system receives the frame, selects one of unicast, broadcast, and multicast referring to the set mode value, the GID, and the LLID, and retransmits the frame in the selected one. An ONU system(170b) determines whether to receive the frame transmitted from the OLT system referring to the mode value, the GID, and the LLID set to the preamble/SFD field of the frame.

A personal DRM(Digital Rights Management)-applied personal multicasting service system and its providing method are provided to allow only an authenticated user to use a service to thus prevent improper contents from being broadcast or an unauthenticated user from illegally using a service. A personal broadcast transmitting unit(130) creates and stores contents, applies a personal DRM code to the created contents, and transmits the same to a personal broadcast receiving unit. The personal broadcast receiving unit(110) receives the transmitted contents, decodes the contents based on corresponding personal DRM certificates, and reproduces the same. After the personal broadcast transmitting unit allocates a channel for transmitting broadcast, a channel management server unit(140) manages the channel, and transmits information of a particular broadcast transmitting unit requested by the personal broadcast receiving unit. An authentication server unit(120) verifies the validity of the personal broadcast transmitting unit and the personal broadcast receiving unit, and issues/manages the personal DRM certificates.

본 발명은 광가입자망 FTTH 시스템에서 광 망 종단장치(ONU)와 케이블모뎀간의 정합 장치 및 상기 FTTH 시스템 내에서 ONU와 케이블모뎀간을 정합하는 방법에 관한 것으로서, 케이블모뎀의 하향/상향 데이터 RF채널을 중계하여 ONU에 하향/상향 데이터 전기채널로 전달하는 기능을 수행함으로써, 결과적으로 케이블모뎀이 광가입자망 FTTH 시스템을 통해서 양방향 통신을 할 수 있도록 상기 ONU와 케이블모뎀간의 인터페이싱을 제공하는 정합장치 및 정합방법에 관한 것이다. 따라서, FTTH 시스템에서 HFC 시스템의 양방향 데이터 교환 서비스를 효과적으로 수용지원할 수 있고, 기존의 케이블모뎀을 변경할 필요가 없다.
