    Abstract: A multiuser detector method and receiver that detects and decodes synchronous or asynchronous CDMA subchannels having different spreading factors with reduced computational complexity. The multiuser receiver is compatible with ZF-BLE, MMSE, decorrelating detectors and the like using Cholesky decomposition to minimize numeric operations. The receiver and method arranges the columns of system transmission response matrices representing the response characteristics of individual users into a total system transmission response matrix which represents a plurality of matched-filter responses for a given block of received data. The invention when used in conjunction with Cholesky decomposition reduces the number of required mathematic operations prior to parallel matched filtering.

    Abstract: A receiver that reduces impulse response interference using a model of the received signal similar to that used in block linear equalizers. Block linea r equalizers comprise decorrelating receivers, zero-forcing receivers, minimum mean square error receivers and the like. The invention comprises an interference computation processor feedback loop (43) for correcting the output of a direct interference canceller (39). The m iterative process removes interferers from the output symbols of a matched-filter (35). The receiver uses received signal models of the various block linear equalizers that do not assume that each subchannel consists of several distinct paths. The receiver ertimates the impulse response characteristic of each subchanne l as a whole.

    Abstract: A wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access has a base station and user equipments. The system communicates using communication bursts. Each communication burst has a unique channelization code and a midamble code. Each midamble code is mapped to a set of at least one channelization code. For each communication burst to be transmitted in a time slot from the base station, the midamble code mapped to that burst's channelization code is determined. Communication bursts are generated and transmitted in the time slot. Each burst has the determined midamble code for its channelization code. The user equipment receives the bursts and determines each received midamble code. The user equipment determines the channelization codes of the transmitted communication bursts based on in part a result of the determining of each received midamble code.

    Abstract: A method and a wireless transmit/receive unit, WTRU, to facilitate paging in high speed downlink packet access, HSDPA, wireless communications, the method comprising: when the WTRU is in one of a CELL PCH and URA PCH state: receiving, from a base station, HSDPA associated paging indicator channel, PICH, information elements comprising PICH information; compiling a list of candidate PICHs for HSDPA after receiving the information element; determining a value k corresponding to a number of candidates; calculating a selection index equal to:U_RNTI mod k, where U RNTI is a universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (UTRAN) radio network transaction identity (U-RNTI) of the WTRU; selecting a PICH information from the list of candidate PICHs based on the selection index; awakening from a sleep mode during paging occasions derived from the PICH information; monitoring for a paging indicator over a PICH using the selected PICH information; monitoring for a high speed dedicated shared channel, HS-DSCH, radio network transaction identity, H-RNTI; monitoring a high speed shared channel using the received H-RNTI; and returning to the sleep mode, if no H-RNTI is received.

En una representación, una WTRU preferida se configura para recibir los mensajes de paginación, con base en un PICH, un HS-SCCH y un HS-PDSCH. En otra representación, una WTRU preferida se configura para recibir mensajes de paginación, con base en un PICH y un HS-PDSCH. En ambas representaciones, se usa preferiblemente un parámetro de demora de tiempo (para cronometrar la transmisión del PICH y la transmisión de un mensaje de paginación) de manera que la WTRU pueda escuchar a cualquiera del HS-SCCH o del HS-PDSCH durante un periodo de tiempo y regresar a un modo de espera si no se recibe el mensaje de paginación.
