Abstract: The invention relates to a drive unit for automatically actuating a vehicle door, in particular the tailgate of a motor vehicle, it being possible to connect the drive unit (4) to the vehicle door (1) or to a transmission device (6) by means of an output shaft (5), said transmission device executing a pivoting movement which corresponds to the pivoting movement of the vehicle door (1), and the drive unit (4) comprising at least one first sensor device (7) which can be connected to an electronic evaluation device (21) and serves to detect the respective angular position of the vehicle door (1). In order to make use of the advantages of an incrementally operating position measurement system of the vehicle door (1), in which, however, recalibration is necessary not only after the end positions of the vehicle door (1) are reached following a power cut, the invention proposes dividing the entire pivot angle (α) of the vehicle door (1) into at least three successive zones (pivot angle ranges) (α1-α4), it being possible to determine the individual pivot angle ranges (α1-α4) by means of a first sensor device (7) which is suitable for detecting absolute values. The pivot angle of the vehicle door within the individual zones (α1-α4) is then detected with the aid of a second sensor device (8) which comprises at least one incrementally operating measured value detector.

Abstract: A door checker for an automobile includes: a case fixed to one of a body and a door of the automobile; a check lever movably penetrating the case, oscillatably axis-supported by the other of the body and the door, and provided with a rack on one side face; a pinion meshed with the rack and rotatably housed in the case; a movable shoe housed in the case so that the movable shoe can be engaged with and disengaged from a tooth portion of the pinion; and a check spring for biasing the movable shoe in the direction of engagement with the pinion. The door is held at an arbitrary opening degree by an engaging force of the movable shoe with the pinion due to a biasing force of the check spring. Thus, it is possible to easily set a large number of steps in an opening degree for holding the door.

Abstract: The invention concerns a braking and damping device for movable massesnullin particular, for movable cabinet components, with a casing, a first adjustable braking element that is located partially in the casing and is coupled with the movable cabinet component and a second adjustable braking element that is located in the casing; whereby, the braking elements form operating surfaces that are inter-related, so that a shifting of the braking elements relative to one another produce a braking force. The invention shows that the braking elements that are coupled together by a transferring element that provides and removes force in such a manner that in a first movement phase, the braking elements implement a synchronous movement with which the relative velocity between the operating surfaces is smaller or less than the speed of the first braking element that is coupled with the cabinet component. In the second movement phase the braking elements implement opposite movement with which the relative velocity between the operating surfaces is greater than the speed of the first, with the braking element coupled with the cabinet component and in the third movement phase, the first two movement phases are opposite movement phases, the second braking element essentially stands still. The relative velocity between the operating surfaces corresponds essentially to the speed of the first braking element (7) coupled to the cabinet component.
