Abstract:
A spectral imaging method for simultaneous detection of multiple fluorophores aimed at detecting and analyzing fluorescent in situ hybridizations employing numerous chromosome paints and/or loci specific probes each labeled with a different fluorophore or a combination of fluorophores for color karyotyping, and at multicolor chromosome banding, wherein each chromosome acquires a specifying banding pattern, which pattern is established using groups of chromosome fragments labeled with various fluorophores or combinations of fluorophores.
Abstract:
A method of calibrating a spectral imaging system is disclosed. The spectral imaging system comprises an interferometer having a beam splitter and at least a first reflector and a second reflector. The method comprises: obtaining data pertaining to an interference pattern model, operating the spectral imaging system to provide an interference pattern of a received light beam, and varying a relative orientation between at least two of: the beam splitter, the first reflector and the second reflector, until the interference pattern of the input light beam substantially matches the interference pattern model.
Abstract:
A device for analyzing a biological sample is disclosed. The device comprises, a substrate having thereon a sample region for carrying the sample and a reference region; and a reference substance being immobilized on the reference region, and being bindable to at least one label that is specific to at least one component of the sample.
Abstract:
A spectral imaging system comprises: a sequential optical system providing a temporal sequence of output light beams describing the scene; a color imager receiving the output light beams and responsively generating, for each output light beam, an image signal that is spatially resolved into a plurality of color channels. The system can also comprise an image processor that collectively process the image signals to construct a spectral image of the scene.
Abstract:
A method for characterizing a stained pathological specimen is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining an image of the specimen, classifying the picture-elements of the image into classification groups, and using the classification groups to define at least one set of picture-elements corresponding to at least one tissue region of the pathological specimen. The method further comprises applying, on each set of picture-elements, at least one set-operator so as to characterize the tissue regions according to image data and spatial characteristics of the set.
Abstract:
A method of functional brain mapping of a subject is disclosed. The method is effected by (a) illuminating an exposed cortex of a brain or portion thereof of the subject with incident light (Fig. 6); (b) acquiring a reflectance spectrum of each picture element of at least a portion of the exposed cortex of the subject (Fig. 5).
Abstract:
A system (400) and method for functional brain mapping of a subject is disclosed. The method is effected by: (a) illuminating an exposed cortex of a brain or portion thereof of the subject with incident light form an illuminating device (402); (b) acquiring a reflectance spectrum of each picture element of at least a portion of the exposed cortex of the subject; (c) stimulating the brain of the subject; (d) during or after step (c) acquiring at least one additional reflectance spectrum of each picture element of at least the portion of the exposed cortex of the subject; and (e) generating an image highlighting differences among spectra of the exposed cortex acquired in steps (b) and (d), so as to highlight functional brain regions. Algorithms for calculating oxygen saturation and blood volume maps which can be used to practice the method are also disclosed..
