Abstract:
Device for automatically correcting a code, forming an improvement to a device which combines, in a single unit, means for perforating a paper tape which moves step-by-step, and for reading the code which has just been perforated during the preceding step, this improvement consisting of automatically correcting any code which has been erroneously perforated by causing the tape to step back to the location of the error and either correcting the error or voiding and re-perforating the code at a new location.
Abstract:
A device for determining the direction of propagation of a plane wave in an isotropic medium, in which the detectors are uniformly distributed on a circle. These detectors are disposed in groups each corresponding to a predetermined direction. Each detector is connected to a chain consisting of the same number of adders as detectors in a group. The adders are interconnected by shift registers.
Abstract:
A lathe has a bedplate to which is mounted a lathe bed defining first and second slideways and a fixed headstock holding a rotatable spindle. A movable tailstock slides on at least one of the slideways such that the spindle axis lies in a first plane and the first and second slideways lie in a common second plane perpendicular to the first plane and equally spaced therefrom.
Abstract:
A logic device for telegraphic call charge enabling or not enabling. The starting of the charging is dependent on the receipt of two successive signals; the first signal being a pulse having a determined length, the second signal being a character of the international code No. 2. The logic device comprises two series of gates establishing time references, the first series of said gates checking the reception of the first signal and the second series checking that of the second signal, the reception of the said second signal depending on that of the first.
Abstract:
Device ensuring the selection of a fixed connection extension located so as to provide a good quality connection exclusive of other fixed extensions which are not so favorably located. The intended application is the connection between a mobile extension and a fixed extension supplied by the said connection extension.
Abstract:
A signal-to-noise ratio improving device for processing narrow frequency band signals received by two wave collectors (transducers or antennas) and respectively delivered at one and the other of two input terminals in the form of identical useful signals on each of which a different quasi-stationary noise is superposed. The device forms the sum and difference of the noiseaffected signals received at said input terminals and the said difference is processed in a circuit comprising amplitude regulating means, first and second correlators each having two inputs to one of which is fed the said sum and to the other of which are applied, for said first correlator, said amplituderegulated difference and, for said second correlator, the latter said difference delayed by a fixed time interval. The correlators deliver at their respective outputs signals proportional to the time average of the product of the signals applied to their two inputs. The averaged signals are respectively applied to a first input of each one of two multipliers, to a second input of which are respectively applied said amplitude-regulated difference and said delayed amplitude-regulated difference. The outputs of the multipliers deliver new signals which are applied to the inputs of an adder, and the output signal from said adder is applied to an input of a subtractor, to the other input of which said sum of noise-affected signals is applied. The output of the subtractor delivers the improved signal.
Abstract:
An electronic amplifier circuit including a control transistor connecting a load to a low voltage source in response to a control signal below a prescribed level and control means for switching a high voltage source to said control transistor to energizing said load when the control signal exceeds the prescribed level.
Abstract:
An axial supersonic fluid compressor has ducts incorporating both mobile and fixed blades that are designed to receive essentially normal shock waves. This is accomplished by having the angles of incidence upstream from the fixed and mobile blades relatively small; the passage cross sections of the ducts between the blades of the mobile wheel convergent; the passage cross sections of the ducts between the fixed blades divergent, and the profile of the leading edges of the fixed and mobile blades rounded off with a small radius of curvature.
Abstract:
An equipment housing for submarine suspension from a buoy designed to be dropped vertically into water with the housing mounted therein so that the impact with the water frees the housing to hang below the buoy on a cable at a predetermined depth selected by one of a plurality of cords connecting the housing to respective spaced points on the cable, a selector being provided for initially cutting all but one cord to select said predetermined depth.
Abstract:
A device for evaluating the difference between two inputs. The first input is applied to a counter and the second is applied to a memory device. A pulse generator then pulses the counter and a storage device until the count in the counter corresponds to the second input signal in the storage device. At this point the pulse generator is stopped. The count in the storage is therefore indicative of the difference between the first and second inputs since it received a pulse for each pulse required to raise the value of the input of the counter to the value of the input of the memory device.
