Abstract:
PURPOSE: A novel Bacillus strain with a probiotic activity is provided to ensure antibacterial activity to fish pathogenic bacteria and to secrete useful enzymes. CONSTITUTION: A novel Bacillus 2-4(KCCM11107P) strain has a probiotic activity. A probiotic formulation contains the strain as an active ingredient. A feed or feed additive for cultivating fishes and/or crustaceans contains the strain as an active ingredient. A method for preventing mass mortality caused by pathogen of cultured fishes and/or crustaceans comprises a step of feeding the feed to the fishes and/or crustaceans. The pathogen includes Edwardsiella tarda, Streptococcus iniae, Vibrio anguillarum, Vibrio harveyi or Streptococcus parauberis.

PURPOSE: A novel gene encoding Paralichthys olivaceus-derived beta-defensin is provided to ensure high antibacterial activity and to develop natural antibiotics. CONSTITUTION: A Paralichthys olivaceus-derived antibacterial peptide is a polymepeptide, mutant thereof, or active fragment thereof. The polypeptide is selected from: a polypeptide encoded by cDNA having one of nucleic acids of sequence number s 1-5; a polypeptide encoding a polynucleotide which is hybridized with cDNA having the one of nucleic acids of sequence numbers 1-5; a polypeptide encoded by gDNA having one or nucleic acids of sequence numbers 6-10; a polypeptide encoding the polynucleotide hybridized with the gDNA; or a polypeptide having an amino acid among amino acid sequences of sequence numbers 11-15.

PURPOSE: A novel Photobacterium gaetbulicola Gung47 which produces lipase is provided to be used as a detergent, bleaching agent, food, and feed additive. CONSTITUTION: A novel Photobacterium gaetbulicola Gung47 which produces lipase is deposited by deposit number KACC 91494P. The Photobacterium gaetbulicola strain has 16S rRNA of sequence number 3. The molecular weight of the lipase is 100 kDa. The Photobacterium gaetbulicola strain grows at 10°C-40°C and pH 5.0 to pH 9.5 and under anaerobic condition. A feed additive contains the Photobacterium gaetbulicola Gung47, culture liquid, and lipase as an active ingredient.
