PURPOSE: A method for enabling users to easily input European-style Arabic numbers is provided to enable users who do not use the European-style Arabic numbers to easily input numbers on a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A method for enabling users to easily input European-style Arabic numbers comprises the following steps: inputting a predetermined Arabic number using a controller(S201); checking a conversion setup when the change of the inputted number is requested(S202,S203); changing the inputted number by the checked conversion setting(S204); and displaying the changed number.

PURPOSE: A word spacing executing method of a portable terminal is provided to reduce the size of the portable terminal by conveniently inputting data without including a special key for word spacing. CONSTITUTION: A control unit determines a key input signal(201). When the key is inputted over predetermined time, the control unit displays data arranged at the key(202,203). A key control unit executes a word spacing function. When the key is inputted under the predetermined time, the control unit displays data arranged at other key(204,205).

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for exterminating mosquito using a mobile terminal are provided to generate mosquito exterminating sound. CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(120) stores mosquito eradicate sound in which the location information mapped. A location distinguish unit(114) checks the current location of a user when activating a mosquito eradicate mode. A control unit(110) searches the mapped mosquito eradicate mode in the storage unit. An audio process unit(160) generates the mosquito eradicate sound.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A digital compass function providing method and a portable terminal supporting the same are provided to detect a mecca direction by using at least one direction among astronomical objects. CONSTITUTION: A timer(161) offers present time information. A mecca direction detecting unit(165) calculates four cardinal directions based on astronomical objects by using the present time information and location information. The mecca direction detecting unit calculates a mecca direction based on the determined four cardinal directions and the location information. A screen output unit(167) outputs an astronomical objects image showing the astronomical objects, an image showing the four cardinal directions and an image showing the mecca direction to a display unit.

A method of controlling auto zooming in a portable terminal is provided to automatically adjust size of a picked-up image of an object regardless of distance. It is determined whether an auto zooming function is selected or not at a moving picture photographing mode(312). A size ratio of a main object to be photographed is set when the auto zooming function is selected(313). The size ratio of the main object is set as a reference ratio and thereby the main object is photographed(314). A size ratio of the main object of picked-up image data is compared with the reference ratio(317). When two size ratios are not equal to each other, zoom magnification is controlled by scaling up and down an image so that a size ratio of the main object changed while the main object is photographed can be equal to the reference ratio(319,320).

PURPOSE: A method for providing an UV(UltraViolet) index service through a mobile terminal is provided to offer a UV index to an enterpriser or a UV index forecast center through a mobile terminal having a UV sensor so that the enterpriser can sort and sell necessary products according to regions and can develop various products associated with ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal(100) is provided with a UV sensor. The mobile terminal measures a UV index through the UV sensor and offers it to an enterpriser(300) or a UV index forecast center(400). The mobile terminal(100) provides the UV index service to the enterpriser(300) through a regular contract with the enterpriser(300). In this case, the subscriber of the mobile terminal(100) can purchase goods or make a discount on goods through point accumulation. The enterpriser(300) takes the statistics of UV indexes, received from the mobile terminal(100), by regions and sorts and sells products according to each region. The UV index forecast center(400) takes the statistics of UV indexes, received from the mobile terminal(100), by regions, announces an UV index for each region, and grasps and prevents UV problems.

PURPOSE: A speaker system in a mobile terminal is provided to miniaturize the size of a mobile terminal that uses at least two speakers. CONSTITUTION: A speaker(170) for calls is installed at a folder housing(300) in a mobile phone, and a speaker(180) for multimedia is installed at a main body(400). If an audio signal is received to the mobile phone, a control part judges whether the received signal is a voice signal or a multimedia signal. If it is judged that the received signal is a voice signal, the control part controls a voice codec so that the voice signal can be processed and outputted through the call speaker(170). However, in case that the received signal is a multimedia signal, the control part controls a multimedia codec so that the multimedia signal can be processed and outputted through the multimedia speaker(180).
