Abstract: PURPOSE: A storage device for dynamically controlling storage capacity or reliability is provided to maintain the reliability of the storage device by removing or adding a storage device unit. CONSTITUTION: A controller(420) varies the capacity for the valid storage capacity of a storage medium(460) according to a set error processing mode. An error processing mode setter(430) sets a new error treated mode according to a determination result from the new error treated mode. Abstract: PURPOSE: A flash memory bad block management apparatus and method thereof are provided to effectively search replace information and to reduce resource consumption using a block filter and block state information caches.
