    Abstract: PURPOSE: A catalyst for generating acrolein by the dehydration of glycerol and a manufacturing method of the same are provided to improve the activity of the catalyst with respect to the dehydration of the glycerol. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst for generating acrolein by the dehydration of glycerol includes a carrier and a precursor of an actinium-based atom which is treated with sulfuric acid and is belonged to the IIIA family in the periodic table. The carrier is made of the oxide of at least one atom selected from II family atoms, III family atoms, and IV family atoms. The actinium-based atom is carried in the carrier, and the carrier is mesoporous silica. The actinium-based atom is thorium.
