Provided are surface-modified calcium carbonate, which is coated with a silica layer containing dopant and shows low thermal decomposition temperature, and a flame-retardant resin composition containing the same. Surface-modified calcium carbonate contains a silica layer, which covers at least some parts of the calcium carbonate. The thermal decomposition temperature is 300- 550°C. The surface-modified calcium carbonate consists of 1-40 parts of the silica layer and 100 parts of calcium carbonate. The silica layer includes alkali metal, alkali metal compound, alkaline earth metal, alkaline earth metal compound, transition metal, transition metal compound or dopant selected from their mixture. The alkali metal compound represents oxides of Group IA, hydroxide, chloride, sulfate, carbonate, nitrate, phosphate or their mixture.

A microparticle for light diffusion, a method for preparing the microparticle, and a light diffusion plate using the microparticle as a diffuser are provided to improve brightness and light resistance. A microparticle for light diffusion comprise a core which comprises polyorganosilsesquioxane microparticle; and a shell which comprises a crosslinking polymer resin having a refractive index difference of 0.05 or more with the polyorganosilsesquioxane and coats the core. Preferably the polyorganosilsesquioxane has a repeating unit represented by RSiO_(1.5-x/2) OH_x, wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl group, a vinyl group or an aryl group; and x is 0-1.5.

A method for preparing a polyorganosilsesquioxane fine particle, the polyorganosilsesquioxane fine particle prepared by the method, a thermoplastic resin composition containing the particle, and a diffusion plate for an LCD TV containing the particle are provided to use the polyorganosilsesquioxane fine particle as a diffusing agent for improving brightness and light resistance. A method for preparing a polyorganosilsesquioxane fine particle comprises the steps of mixing an organochlorosilane and an organotrialkoxysilane so as to make the concentration of organochlorosilane be 100-2,000 ppm; mixing the obtained one with water to prepare a transparent sol; and maintaining the pH of the sol to be 8-11. Preferably the organochlorosilane is represented by R1Si(OR2)_(3-x) Clx and the organotrialkoxysilane is represented by R1Si(OR2)3, wherein R1 is a C1-C6 alkyl group, a vinyl group or an aryl group; R2 is a C1-C5 alkyl group; and x is 1-3.

PURPOSE: A phase change material-aerogel complex and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to secure the regenerating property of the complex, and to improve the miscibility with a polymer. CONSTITUTION: A phase change material-aerogel complex includes a phase change material impregnated in aerogel. The weight ratio of the phase change material and the aerogel is 1:10~10:1. The phase change material-aerogel complex includes the density of 80~600kg per cube centimeters, pores, and the average particle diameter of 0.05 microns ~10 millimeters.

PURPOSE: An aerogel-polymer resin complex is provided to obtain superior insulation performance and thermal storage property, to enable a user to easily handle the complex, and to improve miscibility with a polymer. CONSTITUTION: An aerogel-polymer resin complex(1) comprises anaerogel and a wet dispersing agent which are included in a polymer matrix. The content of the aerogel is 2-30 weight%. The aerogel(11) forms an aerogel particle within the polymer matrix(12). The average diameter of the aerogel particle is 50 nm ~ 100 micros. A method for manufacturing the aerogel-polymer resin complex comprises the following steps: preparing a suspension by uniformly mixing a monomer, wet dispersing agent, a polymerization initiator, the aerogel, a dispersing agent, and water; producing the aerogel-polymer resin complex by heating the suspension and performing polymerization; and forming an aerogel-polymer resin foam by inputting gas into the aerogel-polymer resin complex.

PURPOSE: An inorganic material - aerogel composite and a manufacturing method of the inorganic material - aerogel complex are provided to improve workability by enhancing the density, and to improve workability, thermal insulation, the flame retardancy, heat resistance, and gas barrier property by adding resin. CONSTITUTION: An inorganic material - aerogel composite of sheet-like structure comprises 0.1 ~ 95 wt% of an inorganic material. The inorganic material - aerogel composite has 50 ~ 99 % of porosity, and 100 ~ 1000 m^2/ g of a specific surface area. The inorganic material and aerogel of are connected by chemical bond. The density of aerogel is 0.1 ~ 0.3 g / cm^3. A manufacturing method of the inorganic material - aerogel complex comprises the following steps: preparing a mixture which mixes a water glass solution which is ion-exchanged andan aqueous solution in which the inorganic materials are dispersed; gelating the mixture by adjusting pH; and forming the inorganic material - aerogel complex powder.
