    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring flow rate of fluid is provided to make it possible to measure the flow rate of fluid around sheet of valve or within combustion chamber by directing laser beam to the sheet of valve and combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: A laser probe(101) is directed by the first and second laser beams. The first mirror(102) alters the paths of the first and second laser beams and reflects them onto the interior of an adapter installed at the installing part of a spark plug. The first lens(103) is mounted on upper part of interior of the adapter and make the first and second laser beams in parallel. The second lens(104) is mounted on lower part of interior of the adapter to focus the first and second laser beams passed through the first lens. The second mirror(104) is installed on the one side of the adapter and alters the paths of the first and second laser beams to make the two beams intersected each other.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A connector is provided to improve pressure drop characteristics of exhaust system by leading the flow of the exhaust gas into a spiral shape. CONSTITUTION: A connector is installed between an exhaust pipe connected to an intermediate muffler of an exhaust system, and a catalyst converter, and shaped as a cone having a spiral streamline so as to increase effective contact sectional area of the exhaust gas discharged from the catalyst converter toward the exhaust pipe. When view from the front, the connector has a deflection angle of 55 to 65 degree with respect to X-axis at X-Y-Z coordinates axis. At a plane view, the connector has a deflection angle of 40 to 50 degree with respect to Y-axis at X-Y-Z coordinates axis. The connector has an elliptical sectional surface at the catalyst converter side, and a circular sectional surface at the exhaust pipe side.

The laser beam transmitted to the laser probe is focused at a point spaced apart from the laser probe due to the characteristics of a convex lens disposed within the probe. The focused beam is reflected and collected for analysis in the burst spectrum analyzer.
