    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for controlling catalyst activation during cold start of a vehicle is provided to achieve rapid activation of CCC and UCC by releasing lean combustion control for CCC activation and carrying out rich combustion control for UCC activation after CCC reaches the activation temperature. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling catalyst activation during cold start of a vehicle comprises the steps of: inducing CCC(Close-Coupled Catalyst) activation through spark retard control and lean combustion of air-fuel ratio after on of cold start(S101~S105), inducing UCC(Underfloor Coupled Catalyst) activation through rich combustion of air-fuel ratio after completion of CCC activation(S107,S109), and carrying out theoretical air-fuel ratio control after completion of UCC activation(S110,S111).
