Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for unfolding an external air bag, capable of determining the unfolding of an external air bag. Disclosed is the method for unfolding an external air bag, wherein the method includes setting a detection area of a certain range; selecting an object with shortest TTE which is time left until colliding with an air bag cushion when the unfolding of an external air bag is assumed to be a dangerous object; promoting the dangerous object to a target object if the relative speed of the dangerous object is a first reference or higher, an overlap is a second reference or higher, and TTE is a third reference or lower; and unfolding the external air bag after promoting the dangerous object to the target object.
