Abstract: Adhesive articles suitable for use in medical applications include a siloxane-based pressure sensitive adhesive layer, and a breathable conformable backing having a first surface and a second surface. The siloxane-based pressure sensitive adhesive layer is coated on the first surface of the breathable conformable backing, and the second surface of the breathable conformable backing comprises a treated surface. The siloxane-based pressure sensitive adhesive layer can be attached to skin and other adhesive articles can be releasably adhered to the treated surface to form adhesive constructions.

Abstract: Described herein is a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising a polyurethane polymer derived from a polyester polyol and a polyisocyanate component, wherein the polyester polyol, which is derived from a first reaction product of (a) a Component A, wherein the Component A is a phthalic acid, a phthalic anhydride or mixtures thereof, (b) a Component B, wherein the Component B is a dimer fatty acid, a dimer fatty acid diol or mixtures thereof, and (c) a Component C, wherein the Component C is an aliphatic diol, an aromatic diol, or mixtures thereof, wherein Component C comprises 2 to 10 carbon atoms and optionally catenated heteroatoms selected from O, S, and N. Also disclosed herein are polyurethane polymers and pressure sensitive adhesives made from the polyurethane polymers or the polyester polyols.

Abstract: Compositions are provided including an uncrosslinked thermoplastic nitrogen-containing matrix material and composite particles distributed in the matrix material. The composite particles each include a chemical blowing agent particle encapsulated within a shell including an uncrosslinked thermoplastic material. The uncrosslinked thermoplastic material exhibits at least a certain minimum complex viscosity at a decomposition temperature of the chemical blowing agent particle. Also described are foam compositions and articles including the foam compositions, such as a sheet or multilayer construction. Composite particles are further provided. Methods of making the foam compositions are additionally described herein. Also, polishing pads, polishing systems, and methods of polishing a substrate are provided.

Abstract: Branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymers having a backbone formed by reacting a reaction mixture including at least 25 mol % of a di-amine selected from a secondary di-amine, a branched di-amine, or a combination thereof; and an aliphatic acid blend including a branched aliphatic dimer acid and a branched aliphatic trimer acid. The molar equivalent ratio of the di¬ amine to the aliphatic acid blend is 0.9-1.1. Preferably, the branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymer is not telechelic. The branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymer preferably exhibits one or more of a shear modulus of from 10,000 to 500,000 Pa at 70° C., a complex viscosity of greater than 1,000,000 mPa*s at 70° C., a glass transition temperature of less than 25° C., or a number average molecular weight of greater than 10,000 Da. Biodegradable and/or compostable adhesive articles including the branched amorphous polyamide (co)polymer also are disclosed.

Abstract: Orthodontic adhesives are claimed which use polymeric filler particles with defined particle size characteristics. The particle size characteristics are controlled such that these adhesives provide comparable mechanical retention and cohesive strength of conventional orthodontic adhesives when used to bond orthodontic appliances to teeth. Because polymeric fillers are generally softer than inorganic fillers, these adhesives are easier to remove from the tooth than conventional adhesives after debonding an orthodontic appliance. Embodiments of the invention include both self-curing and two-part adhesives, packaged adhesive-coated orthodontic appliances, and methods for removing a cured adhesive from a tooth surface.

If the polymer includes poly(ethylene oxide) units, the copolymer typically has a weight ratio of poly(ethylene oxide) to poly(propylene oxide) of up to 3:1, or if the copolymer has a number average molecular weight of at least 10,000 grams per mole, the weight ratio of poly(ethylene oxide) to poly(propylene oxide) is up to 2:1.
