Abstract:
Described herein is a pressure sensitive adhesive comprising a polyurethane polymer derived from a polyester polyol and a polyisocyanate component, wherein the polyester polyol, which is derived from a first reaction product of (a) a Component A, wherein the Component A is a phthalic acid, a phthalic anhydride or mixtures thereof, (b) a Component B, wherein the Component B is a dimer fatty acid, a dimer fatty acid diol or mixtures thereof, and (c) a Component C, wherein the Component C is an aliphatic diol, an aromatic diol, or mixtures thereof, wherein Component C comprises 2 to 10 carbon atoms and optionally catenated heteroatoms selected from O, S, and N. Also disclosed herein are polyurethane polymers and pressure sensitive adhesives made from the polyurethane polymers or the polyester polyols.

The present disclosure relates to an electronic device comprising at least one organic light-emitting diode and a pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising a synthetic rubber block (co)polymer, and wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive composition has: a) a relative permittivity no greater than 2.50, when measured at an alternating current frequency of 100 kHz according to the test method described in the experimental section; b) a water uptake no greater than 0.60 wt %, when measured after exposure to 60° C. and 95% relative humidity for 120 hours, according to the test method described in the experimental section; and c) optionally, a peel adhesion value above 0.20 N/mm, when measured at 85° C. according to the test method described in the experimental section. In another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method of manufacturing an electronic device comprising at least one organic light-emitting diode, wherein the method comprises the step of using a pressure sensitive adhesive composition as described above. According to still another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to the use of a pressure sensitive adhesive composition as described above for protecting organic light-emitting devices or organic light-emitting diodes from moisture and air permeation.

Disclosed is a crosslinked adhesive composition comprising a low Tg (meth)acrylate copolymer component, a high Tg (meth)acrylate copolymer component, and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier. This disclosure provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles that are particularly useful in the bonding of low surface energy (LSE) substrates.

The present invention relates to a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprising an acrylate copolymer having a side carboxyl that is formed by a first monomer mixture containing a carboxyl-containing monomer, wherein, the content of the carboxyl-containing monomer is 0.1-10 wt. % based on the total weight of the first monomer mixture for forming the acrylate copolymer having the side carboxyl, the glass transition temperature Tg of the acrylate copolymer having the side carboxyl is larger than or equal to −55° C. and less than or equal to −30° C. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition further comprises 1-25 wt. % of an acrylate oligomer with a weight-average molecular weight greater than or equal to 20,000 Da and a glass transition temperature Tg greater than or equal to 25° C., and 1-20 wt. % of a terpene tackifying resin based on the total weight of the acrylate copolymer having the side carboxyl and the acrylate oligomer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition also has a high peel force at room temperature and a high cohesive force at high temperature and has excellent anti-warping and anti-bubbling properties

The present invention is directed to a multilayer pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) film, having a first pressure sensitive adhesive layer and at least an opposing layer, wherein the first pressure sensitive adhesive layer comprises a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition with a (meth)acrylic-based elastomeric material comprising a reaction product of polymerizable material comprising: (a) a first monomer which is an alkyl (meth)acrylate ester of a primary alcohol R1—OH, the alkyl (meth)acrylate ester being of Formula (I) CH2═C(R2)—(CO)—OR1 (I) wherein R1 is an alkyl having 14 to 25 carbon atoms and the primary alcohol R1—OH has an iso index equal to at least 2 but no greater than 4; R2 is hydrogen or methyl; and (b) a second monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated group; wherein the at least one opposing layer comprises at least one filler material. The invention is also directed to a method for the manufacturing of such a multilayer PSA film and its use.

The pressure-sensitive adhesives contain an (meth)acrylic-based elastomeric material prepared an alkyl (meth)acrylate having an alkyl groups that is branched and that contains at least 14 carbon atoms.

An adhesive composition is described comprising a polyisobutylene polymer component; and up to 30 wt.-% of at least one aliphatic multifunctional component comprising at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups selected from (meth)acryl or vinyl ether. The monomer comprises a hydrocarbon moiety with greater than 12 contiguous carbon atoms. When the hydrocarbon moiety is branched, the hydrocarbon moiety comprises side chains with at least two carbon atoms. The aliphatic multifunctional component is sufficiently compatible such that crosslinked adhesive composition at a thickness of 20 microns has a haze of less than 3%. Also described are adhesive articles.

Polyester pressure-sensitive adhesives are described. The polyester includes at least two different diacid residues and at least two different diol residues. The polyester includes at least one pendant group containing an alkenyl group. A ratio of a total number of the at least one pendant group to the total number of ester groups in the polyester is in a range of 0.001 to 0.1. The polyester has a glass transition temperature in a range of −50° C. to −10° C.
