    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a membrane suitable as a gas separation membrane simple to prepare, excellent in stability and separability and capable of adsorbing and desorbing gas at room temp., by supporting a Schiff base metal complex by a porous polymer support membrane. CONSTITUTION:For example, an org. or inorg. porous membrane having pores with a pore size of 20Angstrom -0.1mum and a thickness of 10-300mum is used as a porous polymer support membrane. A Schiff base metal complex is supported by said porous polymer support membrane by coating or impregnation. A support amount may be within range of about 0.01-5mg/cm . A Schiff base ligand has a structure formed from alpha-diketone, beta-diketone, salicylaldehyde or substituted salicylaldehyde and amine, diamine or triamine by dehydro- condensation. As a core metal, a low valency transition metal such as Co, Fe, Cu, Ni, Mn, Cr or Zn is used. This membrane can be suitably used in the concn. of oxygen.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the selectivity of the objective compound in the hydrogenative condensation of benzene, by using a catalyst obtained by supporting nickel and iron and/or manganese on a carrier composed of an HY-type zeolite diluted with silica alumina. CONSTITUTION:Nickel and a cocatalyst consisting of iron and/or manganese are supported on an inexpensive carrier obtained by diluting expensive HY-type zeolite with silica alumina, e.g. commercially available silica alumina for FCC to obtain a catalyst. The amount of the nickel is 0.5-20wt%, especially 1-10wt% of the carrier, and that of the cocatalyst is 1-50wt%, especially 3-30wt% of nickel. Cyclohexylbenzene can be produced in a remarkably improved selectivity, suppressing the production of cyclohexane, by carrying out the hydrogenative condensation of benzene in the presence of the above catalyst. The rate of reaction as well as the selectivity can be improved remarkably by adding a dehydrative dessicant to the reaction system.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title compound useful as a raw material for macrocyclic lactone, polymer raw material, etc., in high selectivity and in high yield by bringing a readily obtainable long-chain diacid monoester as a raw material into contact with hydrogen in the presence of water and a solid catalyst under a mild reaction condition. CONSTITUTION:A long-chain diacid monoester (e.g. pentadecane diacid monomethyl ester) shown by formula I (R is alkyl; n is 8-16C integer) is brought into contact with hydrogen in the presence of water and a solid catalyst (especially ruthenium-based and/or rhenium-based catalyst, specially preferably ruthenium, tin or rhenium) to advantageously give an omega-hydroxy fatty acid ester (e.g. omega-hydroxypentadecanoic acid methyl ester) shown by formula II. The starting compound shown by formula I is readily obtained by esterifying an alkane diacid with an alcohol, then converting into a barium mono salt and replacing the salt with an acid. The omega-hydroxy fatty acid ester is useful as a starting raw material for drugs and perfume and a raw material for polymers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high-uniformity alumina of a wide range in its specific surface area including controlled pores by allowing aluminum alkoxide to react with polyether, then drying and calcining the gel formed by hydrolysis of the product. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum alkoxide is dissolved in an organic solvent and allowed to react with a polyether, then hydrolyzed to obtain a gel from the sol. Further the gel is further dried and calcined to give the objective alumina. In this process, polyether is used as a solvent to control the pores of the alumina product. The reaction temperature of the aluminum alkoxide in poly ether ranges from 10 deg.C to the boiling point of the polyether, preferably from 40 to 190 deg.C. The polyether used in the process is generally represented by the formula: R1(OR2),(OR3)m,(OR4)n,OR5 (R1 is alkyl; R2 through R4 are alkylene; R5 is alkyl; 1 is integer including 1).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To control the function of pores and enhance the separation identification capability by adding water to a mixture of niobium alkoxide, silicon alkoxide and alcohol to obtain gelation and thereby forming an amorphous niobium oxide silica catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Niobium alkoxide and silicon alkoxide which are raw materials for niobium oxide and silica, and alcohol are mixed for a fixed duration, and water is added to obtain gelation. After this, the gel is dried to manufacture an amorphous niobium oxide-silica catalyst. The preferable mixing ratio of niobium and silicon is 2-100 at the atomic ratio of Si/Nb=0.5-200. In order to insure smooth mixing or gelation, alcohols are employed, and also an additive is formulated if necessary. The preferable dosage of alcohols is 1-5mol. to mol. of silicon alkoxide. The recommendable additives are 1,2-diketone, 1,3- diketone, alpha-ketone, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain heat resistant alumina complex oxide, by subjecting a mixed solution of Al alkoxide with one or more kind of alkoxide of Sr, Ba, La and Zr to gelation and heat treatment in the presence of a prescribed oxygen-containing organic compound. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen-containing organic compound having a hydroxyl group linked to tertiary carbon as a functional group is prepared. In the presence of the compound, an Al alkoxide is blended with one or more kind of alkoxide of Sr, Ba, La and Zr to afford a homogeneous solution, which is then is hydrolyzed and subjected to gelation. Then the resultant gel is dried and heat-treated at >=1,000 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:In partially hydrogenating an aromatic hydrocarbon by reacting the aromatic hydrocarbon with a H2 gas in the presence of water and a hydrogenating catalyst, the catalyst obtained by dispersing Ru and Cu as main components into a solid derived from metallic hydroxide colloid is used. CONSTITUTION:In partially hydrogenating nucleus of an anomatic hydrocarbon in the presence of water, a catalyst obtained by dispersing Ru and Cu as main components into a solid derived from metallic hydroxide colloid is used. The catalyst is prepared by blending a solution of the metallic hydroxide colloid (e.g. silicic acid sol, alumina sol or titania sol) with a solution of a Tu salt and a Cu salt in an organic solvent, subjecting the blend to spray drying and heat-treating the spray dried blend at 200-800 deg.C in a H2 atmosphere. A polar solvent (e.g. polyhydric alcohol or acetylacetone) having multiple coordination ability or crosslinking coordination ability is preferable as the organic solvent. The amount of water used is 0.01-20pts.wt based on 1pts.wt. raw material.
