Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the processability, flexual strength and critical temperature of the subject crystal by quenching the melted product of a specific composition comprising Bi, Sr, Ca, Cu, Li and O and subsequently heating the solidified product in a stream of O2 gas. CONSTITUTION:A starting raw material consisting of a mixture of Bi, Sr, Ca, Cu, Li and O in a Bi:Sr:Ca:Cu:Li:O atomic ratio of 1.00:(0.5-2.0):(0.5-5.0):(1.0-7.0):(0.1-1.0):(2.5-5.0) is melted at 1100-1250 deg.C for 15-60min, cast on a metal plate and subsequently quenched at a cooling rate of >=10 deg.C/sec to prepare a glassy platelike solidified product having a thickness of approximately 1mm.
