Abstract:
Disclosed are storage-stable preserved ophthalmic compositions containing acidic drugs in combination with polymeric quaternary ammonium compounds and boric acid.
Abstract:
PEO-containing quaternary ammonium compounds have good broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. These compounds are useful in pharmaceutical compositions as preservatives and in contact lens care compositions as preservatives and/or disinfectants.
Abstract:
Drug delivery vehicles which reversibly increase in either loss modulus or storage modulus, or both, upon contact with the eye, skin, mucous membrane or body cavity are disclosed. The vehicles contain one or more nonionic substituted cellulose ethers and do not require a charged sufactant or a pH-sensitive polymer for such increase in loss modulus or storage modulus, or both, upon administration. In one embodiment, the vehicles gel upon instillation in the eye.
Abstract:
New carbonic anhydrase inhibitors of formula (I) and methods for their use are disclosed. G, J and the two atoms of the thiophene ring to which they are attached form a six-membered ring chosen from formula (a) or (b).
Abstract:
Certain N,N-dialkyl, N'-alkylethylene diamines, the use of same for disinfecting and cleaning contact lenses and preserving ophthalmic products, and associated ophthalmic compositions are described.
Abstract:
Substituted hydrindanes, particularly of formula (I) in which X, Y, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are as defined in the description, and their use in controlling angiogenesis dependent diseases in warm blooded animals, as well as a method for preparing 3-bromo-(2,2-dimethyl)propyl benzoate are disclosed.
Abstract:
Angiostatic steroids for use in controlling neovascularization and ocular hypertension are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions of the angiostatic steroids and methods for their use in treating neovascularization and ocular hypertension, including controlling the ocular hypertension associated with primary open angle glaucoma, are disclosed. In addition, the combination of the compounds with glucocorticoids for the prevention of elevated intraocular pressure during the treatment of inflammation is disclosed.
Abstract:
Hypotonic contact lens care compositions containing a quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agent (e.g. PolyquadR) and an anionic complexing agent (e.g. citrate) are disclosed. The compositions are useful in the disinfection of hydrophilic contact lenses, particularly Group IV lenses, and in the preservation of products for treating such lenses. Methods for use of the compositions for disinfecting and preserving are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing a quinolone antibiotic, such as ciprofloxacin, and a steroid, such as rimexolone, dexamethasone, fluorometholone or fluorometholone acetate, and the like for topical ophthalmic delivery, and a method of treatment comprising administering said compositions topically to the affected ocular tissue when indicated for control of infection and associated inflammation.
