    Abstract: The present application discloses a power actuator that has a motor having a rotatable motor output member and a clutch assembly. A stamped, cup-shape ferromagnetic coil casing has a generally radially extending base wall and an annular side wall extending generally axially from the base wall. An annular ferromagnetic flux intensifying washer is positioned adjacent to the base wall of the coil casing. An annular coil of electroconductive material is disposed within the casing with the side wall extending in surrounding relation with respect to the coil such that the field generated by the coil flows generally radially through the base wall and generally axially through said side wall. A ferromagnetic armature is in sliding relation with the annular coil and movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position.

    Abstract: A power-operated vehicle door locking assembly including separate inner and outer door locking mechanisms connected with a housing assembly and an electric motorized system operable to selectively move (1) the inner door locking mechanism between an inoperative and an inner door locking position in response to inner manual electric motor energizing actuations and (2) the outer door locking mechanism between an inoperative and an outer door locking positions in response to outer manual electric motor energizing actuations. The arrangement is such that an outer manual electric motor energizing actuation without a corresponding inner manual electric motor energizing actuation causes a door latching assembly when in a door latching position to be incapable of being moved into a door unlatching position by an outer door latch releasing mechanism while at the same time the door latching assembly is capable of being moved into the door unlatching position thereof by an inner door latch releasing mechanism.

    Abstract: The present application discloses a power actuator for a latch assembly. The power actuator has a motor (70) having a rotatable motor output member (94) and a clutch assembly (50). The clutch assembly has a rotatable clutch output member (48). A stamped, cup-shaped ferromagnetic coil casing (126) has a generally radially extending base wall and an annular side wall extending generally axially from the base wall. An annular ferromagnetic flux intensifying washer (160) is positioned adjacent to the base wall of the coil casing. An annular coil of electroconductive material is operable to selectively generate a magnetic field. The coil (112-118) is disposed within the casing with the side wall extending in surrounding relation with respect to the coi l such that the field generated by the coil flows generally radially through the base wall and generally axially through said side wall. A ferromagnetic armature (120) is in sliding relation with the annular coil and movable between (a) an engaged position wherein the armature couple s the motor output member and the clutch output member together so that energization of the motor rotatably drives the clutch outpu t member and (b) a disengaged position wherein the motor output member and the clutch output member are uncoupled to enable the clutch outpu t member to rotate without resistance from the motor. Selective energizing of the coil effects movement of the armature between th e engaged and disengaged positions thereof.

    Abstract: A vehicle door latch assembly is movable between an unlocked condition, a locked condition and a double locked condition. The door latch assembly (10) has a support housing (16) with a cover having a projecting block. A ratchet (18) is mounted to the support housing between a latched position and an unlatched position. A pawl (26) is mounted to the support housing (16) and i s movable between a blocking position securing the ratchet (18) in the latched position and a release position permitting the ratchet to pivot toward the unlatched position. A release mechanism (32) is mounted to the support housi ng (16) for moving the pawl (26) into the release position. A slider (36) is coupled between the pawl (26) and the release mechanism (32). The slider (36 ) moves between an engaged position aligned with the release mechanism and a disengaged position spaced from the release mechanism. A locking mechanism (42) is pivotally connected to the support housing and pitotally engaging th e slider for providing the sliding movement of the slider. An inside lock leve r (62) engages the locking mechanism (42) for rotating the locking mechanism, effecting movement of the slider (36) between the unlocked condition and the first locked position.
