Abstract: An aqueous cationic surface-coating system contains an olefinically unsaturated surface-coating binder having basic nitrogen groups, some or all of which are converted into salts with acid, a Co, Mn, Pb, Ce, Zr, Ca, Zn, Fe, Al, Cu, Ni or Cd complex, if appropriate in combination with an inhibitor and/or an initiator which supplies free radicals. This surface-coating system can be used for cathodic electrocoating or for conventional methods of surface-coating.

Abstract: Surface-coating binders based on a reaction product of Mannich bases, obtained from polyhydric phenols, secondary amines and formaldehyde, with epoxy resins. The Mannich bases and/or the epoxy resins carry hydroxyl groups, bonded to aliphatic structures, which have been converted to urethane groups by reaction with partially blocked polyisocyanates. When protonized and diluted with water, the surface-coating binders may be used as cationic electrocoatings.

Abstract: Lacquer binder is based on a mixt. of 10-90 (wt.)% anionic film-forming binder(s), opt. contg. max. 40% thermosetting phenolic and/or aminoplastics precondensate, and 90-10% hydrocarbon oil(s), which is liq. at room temp. and has a viscosity of 300-45,000 mPas at 25 degrees C. The binder is specified for use for anodic electro-dip lacquering of conducting articles in its water-dilutable form, obtd. by addn. of NH3 or a water-soluble volatile amine. It can also be used as adjesive, e.g. in the prodn. of chipboard, and as important impregnant for finishing fibrous materials, e.g. organic or ceramic textiles. It forms stable baths and coating with superior properties, e.g. corrosion protection and baking temp. The current consumption is reduced and the throw much better, whilst the coatings are more uniform and insensitive to sec. impurities (flying dust etc.) before and during baking.
