Abstract: For the preparation of elastic flexible polyurethane foams with improved breaking elongation and very good setting behavior as well as densities from 7 to 120 grams per liter, organic polyisocyanates are reacted in the presence of blowing agents, catalysts and, optionally, auxiliaries and/or additives with polyols based on polyoxyalkylene polyols having terminal oxyethylene blocks of a degree of oxyethlation of 1 to 13 and which have a content of primary hydroxyl groups at the corresponding degree of oxyethylation equal or exceeding the value of curve A in the Figure in which curve A describing the relationship of the content of primary hydroxyl groups with the degree of oxyethylation.

Abstract: Stable melamine-polyoxyalkylene polyether polyol dispersions are prepared by the in situ reduction of melamine particles wherein 90 percent of the melamine particles have a particle size of less than 10 microns. Stabilizers for the melamine-polyol dispersion are selected from the group consisting of (a) silicic acids and silicates, (b) salts of perfluorinated alkyl carboxylic acids having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, salts of alkyl sulfonic acids and perfluorinated alkylsulfonic acids having 4 to 20 carbon atoms and polyperfluoroether polyols having molecular weights of 300 to 6000, and (c) salts of fatty alcohol sulfates having 6 to 30 carbon atoms. These dispersions are useful for the preparation of polyurethane foams.

Abstract: Finely divided aqs. polyesterimided dispn. contains 20-60 wt. % polyesterimide with a particle dia. of 5 mum., 0.5-8 wt. % flow-promoting agent and -8 wt. % catalyst, the polyesterimide being a precondensate of (A) melamine, (B) >=1 di or poly-basic acid and/or its anhydride, acid chloride or ester of a lower mono-alkanol, (C) >=1 polyvalent alcohol and opt. (D) >=1 aromatic dicarboxylic acid or their esters with lower alkanols, the molar ratio of (A):(B) being from 1:1. 1 to 1:3. Prep. the precondensate contains (condensed) 5-15 wt. % (A), 15-70 wt. % (B), 15-25 wt. % (C) and 5-55 wt. % (D). The dispersion exhibits excellent storage stability and is suitable for prodn. of coatings, impregnations and adhesives bonds with improved heat stability, hardness and solvent stability.

Abstract: A heat-hardenable coating compsn. contains as binder a mixt. of (A) 94-60 (90-70) pts. wt. of a copolymer of (a) 25-70 (45-65) wt. % is not 1 vinyl-aromatic and/or methyl methacrylate and/or (meth)acrylonitrile, (b) 20-60 (30-55) wt. % is not 1 ester of a 3-5C olefinically unsatd. carboxylic acid with 1-18C alkanol, and (c) 3-25 (5-15) wt. % of an alpha, beta-ethylenically unsatd. nomo- or di-carboxylic acid, with melt viscosity fo 500-10,000 Pas at 120 degrees C and (B) 6-40 pts. wt. of a cpd. with 2 epoxy gps. of formula:- where R is -CH2- , H, (cyclo)alkyl, aryl, acyl or a residue of formula:- and n = 1-10. The compsn. may be used as a powder coating or a solvent lacquer. It can be applied to substrate, e.g. metals by electrostatic deposition and baked at 130-220 degrees (140-180 degrees C). The coating is hard, elastic, glossy, fast to light and to weather; it does not become yellow. The compsn. is brittle and easily ground at room temp. The raw materials are cheap and easily available. The powder compsn. evolves little volatile matter on baking.
