    Abstract: A process for the continuous preparation of finely divided homopolymers and copolymers of ethene by catalytic polymerization in a circular tube reactor using a liquid alkane as reaction medium in which the ethene or ethene/comonomer mixture to be polymerized is present in dissolved form and the polymer formed is present in suspended form and running the reaction mixture as a cycle stream to which the feed materials are added by bleeding in and from which the polymer formed is withdrawn by bleeding out reaction mixture, comprising (a) maintaining the mean concentration Cm of polymer in the cycle stream at a value within a certain range and (b) effecting the bleeding out of reaction mixture at a point of the cycle stream at which the concentration of polymer has a value which is lower than the mean concentration Cm by a distinct and definite amount.

    Abstract: Polyisobutylene and blends of polyisobutylene and at least one thermoplastic compatible therewith are highly suitable for the disposal of pollutant-containing solids and/or dusts. For this purpose, the solids and dusts in question are mixed with polyisobutylene or the blends, after which the resultant mixtures are advantageously further converted into granules or mouldings. Both the mixtures and the granules and mouldings are water-resistant, so that they can be ultimately landfilled without reservations.

    Abstract: A continuous process for the prodn. of blends of polyisobutylene (I) and at least another polymer (II) is claimed in which (a) isobutylene is continuously polymerised in pure, dry liq. ethylene (b) the resulting (I) is fed directly to a degassing extruder where it is melted and degassed and (c) (I) is mixed with (II) resulting in a blend characterised by (d) (II) being directly dosed in the required amt. into the degassing extruder and mixed there with (I). Also claimed is a continuous process for the prodn. of a mixt. of (I) with fillers and/or additives whereby after steps (a) and (b) there follows steps (C') (I) is mixed with fillers and/or additives whereby (d') the fillers and/or additives are directly dosed in the required amt. into the degassing extruder and mixed there with (I). (II) is a thermoplastic, pref. a polyolefin and is mixed with (I) either before or after the degassing. Fillers and/or additives are used as well as (II). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for the prepn. of blends and/or mixts of (I) with (II) and fillers and/or additives. The process enables blends and mixts. to be prepd. in a simpler and more cost effective manner than prior art.
