Abstract: The invention relates to a pump (1) comprising a pump feed tube (13) for transporting a heat exchange medium (6) for a reactor containing a bundle of catalyst tubes (2). The pump (1) has a housing (14) that surrounds the pump feed tube (13) and comprises an opening (15) in the lower part of the housing (14), which allows the heat exchange medium (6) that is drawn from the lower section of the reactor by the pump (1) to flow into the housing (14). The medium flows upwards in the section lying between the internal wall of the housing (14) and the external wall of the pump feed tube (13), optionally over a heat exchanger (18) and into the interior of the pump feed tube (13) via an opening (16) in the upper section of said pump feed tube (13). The medium then flows through the pump feed tube from top to bottom, into the reactor via an opening (17) in the lower section of said tube (13) and into the upper section of the intermediate chamber between the catalyst tubes (2).

Abstract: A shell-and-tube reactor is disclosed. Contact tubes are disposed within a cylindrical housing and are secured to tube plates. Gas and liquid phases are received via a feed opening in a lower end cap and discharged via an upper end cap in the housing. A distributor device is disposed in the housing, such that the tube plates serve as a horizontal plate for the distributor device to back up the gas phase and form a gas cushion, and vertical elements extend from the contact tubes. The vertical elements are adapted to conduct the liquid phase, are open in the upstream direction, and project outward in the direction of the feed opening through the gas cushion. The vertical elements further include at least one first opening on the circumference for the gas phase and at least one second opening for the liquid phase.

Abstract: A gas distributor (1) has a perforated curved surface with concave and convex sides (4, 5). Its edge conforms with the inner wall of the equipment (2) near the supply opening (3). The concave side faces and surrounds the supply opening (3) at the inner wall. The equipment is a cylindrical vessel with dished- or hemispherical ends (6), the opening (3) being in one of them. The distributor has a central flat end (7) and a peripheral region (8), in an overall blunt conical form. The perforations are holes or slots. Their open area ratio is greater in the central region (7) than in the peripheral region (8), being 2-20% and 4-40% respectively. An Independent claim is included for the method of mounting a gas distributor.

Baffle plates (19) are arranged in one or more deviating regions of the housing for the heat transfer medium.
