    Abstract: A process for the production of coatings based on reaction products of (A) mixtures of (A1) polyhydroxypolyacrylate resins obtained from hydroxylalkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, alkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, and one or more polymerizable, olefinically unsaturated nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, with or without vinylaromatics, (meth)acrylamides and other monomers, and (A2) polyesterpolyols with (B) isocyanurate-containing polyisocyanates which may or may not contain biuret groups, have a functionality of from 2.5 to 6 and possess predominantly cycloaliphatically bonded isocyanate groups, some of which may be replaced by aliphatically bonded isocyanate groups. The process is particularly useful for coating metal components.

    Abstract: Binders contain (A) copolymers of (a) from 5 to 70% by weight of monoesters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic with dihydric to hexahydric C2-C18-alcohols, (b) from 0.1 to 80% by weight of esters or amides of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid with monofunctional C2-C20-alcohols or -amines which have an open-chain and/or cyclic urea group in the ester or amide radical, (c) from 1 to 60% by weight of esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid with monofunctional C1-C20-alcohols and (d) from 0 to 60% by weight of other comonomers, and (B) polyisocyanates, some or all of whose isocyanate groups may be blocked with CH-, NH-- or OH-acidic blocking agents and which have an isocyanate functionality of from 2.5 to 6. These binders are employed for the preparation of polyurethane finishes, which are used to produce coatings.

    Abstract: Baking finishes having a high solids content contain, as the binder, a copolymer of one or more mono-acrylate or monomethacrylate of an alkanediol, an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid whose homopolymer has a glass transition temperature of below -40 DEG C., an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid whose homopolymer has a glass transition temperature of above 35 DEG C. and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, which copolymer has a Fikentscher K value of from 13 to 17 and may or may not be used in combination with conventional aminoplast precondensates having a crosslinking action. These baking finishes are particularly useful as binders for automotive finishes.
